Keep in mind that many web hosting services and Joomla template providers offer free services to non-profits. RocketTheme, which makes excellent Joomla templates, comes to mind. As I recall, http://www.dreamhost.com offers free hosting for qualified non-profits; I am not sure if they include churches.

I talked to a guy today about Joomla, and he mentioned a dotnetnuke group in central Iowa, near where I am from. I mentioned the really active online communities, such as forum.joomla.org and the RocketTheme forum, but it would be great to have a group to actually sit down and either share successes...

A little late, but... some template providers, including RocketThemes, will provide free templates to non-profits in certain circumstances, including churches. I love RocketThemes, and they are terrific to work with. It's May 27, and I am already waiting for the June 07 template. Their latest, Versa...

Are you going to have a newsletter, like Letterman or Acajoom? That would be a reason for people to register, if they understand that only those who register will get the newsletter. Community Builder has a very strong newsletter component, but Letterman and Acajoom seem easier to set up. I haven't ...
