Hi,

Aberystwyth is an excellent choice for a venue, especially as I live in Shrewsbury which is only a short train ride away.  :)

If you need a hand with anything, just ask.

A bit off, but I have the same problem. I use NuWiki on my site, and I'm just writing now, because Chris, you are the developer. Much though I would like to help, I am not familiar with the code and I simply don't have the time to look into it at present.  NuWiki was a straight copy of the Ope...

Re: Wiki component for Joomla! -> Joomla! documentation

Hi DaniĆ«l, I'm happy to let you have a backup copy of the dev.joomla.org version; it is GPL after all.  I wasn't aware that it differed from the regular version so I'd be very interested to know what differences you find. As Tonie has said, we (the Doc WG) are in the process of moving from Docu...

This is needed....Joomla! API Specification in PDF for 1.0 series and 1.5 series. if there isn't one, i can probably generate one since i downloaded the full API in html. its something anyone can do. however, it is just raw, no helpful text introducing it and guides along the way inside the classes...

No significant changes are being made to the codebase for 1.5 (with the single exception of the media manager refactoring).  It's just bug fixing.  So feel free to write up what you see.

Re: Documentation

I finally found one of the "flowcharts" that I remembered.  You can use it as a starting point to create a new one.  The other one was for 1.0.x and is almost certainly irrelevant.  If you do create a new one, then please donate it back to the community.

Thanks,
Chris.

Re: With 2 Database (Joomla + Data) insert don't work

In general it is best to try to use the API rather than calling the MySQL PHP functions directly.

Take a look here: http://dev.joomla.org/component/option,com_jd-wiki/Itemid,/id,references:joomla.framework:database:jdatabase/

I'm not too familiar with this aspect of the code, but I think you need to look at JSession: http://dev.joomla.org/component/option,com_jd-wiki/Itemid,/id,references:joomla.framework:session:jsession/

Re: Writing Components/Modules/Mabots/Plugins for ALL versions. ( start 1.0.12 )

But in order to do this, there would have to be a common method of checking the version of Joomla that is running regardless whether it is 1.0.x or 1.5 or later. In version 1.0.x there was a class called joomlaVersion (version.php) that had methods that returned the version of Joomla. Unfortunately...

Re: Joomla! Version 1.3.4

A lot depends on what legacy code you need to support.  If you have no legacy code then I'd say forget 1.0.x and get right into 1.5 as it has a better, cleaner, simpler API.

I seem to recall there being a flowchart for 1.0.x but I can't seem to find it right now.  I doubt it would be of much use for 1.5 anyway.

Is there a way to get a printed copy of the API?  I know it may sound a little corky but I find it difficult to sit in front of a computer screen to study API's.  Ian mentioned that the UML diagrams may be a little outdated and that's okay, I suspect that the API will grow and change too ...

We expect to continue support for the 1.0.x series for 1 year following 1.5 going Stable. is the RC1 considered stable ? Pretty much.  It is in the "stable phase" of the development cycle: http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/39/63/ . To quote from the Development Strategy: http://dev.joomla.org...

Re: Why Components AND Modules ? (Instead of just Modules.)

There will be no changes to functionality in Joomla! 1.5 as it is being driven by Q&T and not the developers.  In other words, the only changes being made to 1.5 are bug fixes which are required to get the code to its stable state.  No features will be added.  When development starts ...
