Re: East Coast US Joomla Users [NYC/Manhattan Joomla!Day]

Joomla!Day East was great, and I'm glad I was at least there to enjoy James' color commentary on open source licenses. After sitting through so many meetings with him it was really entertaining to see him stand up and talk. I do regret not being there to harass Louis on his talk. (devil grin) Thanks...

Re: East Coast US Joomla Users [NYC/Manhattan Joomla!Day]

That's the hardest part about making Joomla presentations, some folks in the crowd are PHP developers wanting to get their (very technical) questions answered, some are designers wanting to see how easy Joomla is to use, and still others are end users that just need to know when their website is rea...

PHP offices? Where are they?

Really sad I didn't make it, would have loved to have made the first meetup.

I just got back from playing a concert, so if I make it it'll be the one-beer-and-go type of visit for me - I'm dead tired. Still looking forward to it though! :)

You can come as you are - if I make it, I'll be skateboarding over most likely. Some folks will be in slacks and button downs, but that is due to their dress code at work for the most part. Jeans and a shirt are good, basically clothing is the essential requirement ;)

Re: Building the Ship - IDE

First off, I've learned over several Apples (Powerbook and MacBook Pro) that you're better off by compiling your own apache and php, or at least using the ones provided by MacPorts . The packages never seem to include all the stuff you need - especially MySQL - and compiling makes sure you have the ...

I usually hang out with the NYPHP gang: http://nyphp.org

But I've been busy lately and have missed more than I've attended. I believe they are taking a break over the summer as the city is somewhat deserted.

Ok, perhaps it just me, but we're going to look geeky enough with the matching joomla shirts... but a pub crawl whist we're toting laptops and joomla shirts.. we're going off the chart here into some serious geekdom. The Joomla shirt I got is black, and will be part of a baggy plaid skate shorts en...

Excellent idea Alex, we now have our price of admission decided ;)

Also, I don't want to be a picnic-pooper but I think this should be inside, so we can see our screens 8) I see this as an all-day affair followed by a good ol' fashioned pub crawl in the evening. That sound good to everyone?

Keyword expansion in svn not working

When adding svn keywords like $Id:$ to svn, I notice that they are not getting expanded. Is there a setting that I must do for each project, or is there a better way of making keyword expansion work in svn?

Example:

Re: SVN IMPORT secret incantation help

Looks like your link worked Robin - thanks for the pointer.

Somehow my checkout got messed up, as I couldn't commit anymore. I assumed incorrectly that I needed to import, when all I really needed was to just get a fresh checkout and add the new files.

Re: East Coast US Joomla Users [NYC/Manhattan Joomla!Day]

There will definitely be an event in NYC this year, I will personally see to it. Been wanting to do this for a long time. After talking with Chris Justice and others, it makes sense to let the left-coast events happen first, and then leverage what was learned (and created) for the NYC event. Conside...

Re: Discussion about : Andrew Eddie Says Goodbye but not Farewell

Apologies for being perhaps overly defensive. I've personally put a tremendous amount of effort into OSM, and have always had a clear and transparent dedication to open source in general, not just regarding this particular project. I have had my ethics somewhat unceremoniously trampled from time to ...

Thanks Johan. I am relieved to know that all is in hand and that the directors did not just leave without appointing replacements. I didnt want to see all that hard work in setting up OSM come unravelled. I'd say that Andrew and I deserve a little more credit than that - it would be crazy to think ...

Re: The Commercial Gift of Death to Joomla?

Certainly the ads won't generate much revenue with the current monopoly advertiser! Not true.  According to my statistics there have been 36,000 views and over 6000 clicks - 6000 clicks that Joomla will get paid for, and the advertiser will pay for. Thats just in one morning! Cough up the doug...

I've never seen the forge painfully, unacceptably slow, however it was originally intended as a developer resource. We are about to launch a software directory, but I don't want to steal that team's excitement so will only say "COMING SOON"    Stay tuned on the developer portal (dev.joomla...
