Re: Lack of Basic Information Annoying

Thanks!

I agree the slope is slippery and icy! It can really only work if the community and 3PDs to do it. It's the beauty and the curse of open source software!

Re: Lack of Basic Information Annoying

Hey MMMedia, I hope my post wasn't perceived as complaining. Being one of those volunteers right now I agree completely with what you said but would like to expand on the doc issue a bit. Certainly Joomla shouldn't be responsible for teaching people the basics of web developement or CSS design, but ...

Re: Lack of Basic Information Annoying

I think it's as much a structure effort as a documentation effort. Though I don't necessarily agree with ricland's over zealous approach in some of his posts I must say that I do agree with him in principle and even more I would suggest that Joomla take some of his suggestions to heart. Just as it i...

Re: Lack of Basic Information Annoying

Just a side note that there is joint effort underway, between the documentation team and some users, to publish a user guide that will answer a lot of these basic questions. http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board,249.0.html Till then, it's good there are lot's of responsive forum members available ...

Re: Joomla.org connection slow or site not found.

That brings up an interesting question though. Bandwidth and servers are not cheap so who pays the bills for all this? I imagine that going to a clustered solution would be much more expensive.  Is Joomla.org totally dependent on donations? I've often wondered how this side of the OS world work...

Re: Joomla.org connection slow or site not found.

Rochen, I totally agree and did not mean to imply for a second that you guys aren't doing a bangup job! I can't imagine adminstering a box with that kind of traffic but it's a problem lot's of people would like to have  Are there suggested guidelines to be followed when determining that one ser...

Re: Launch a "Spread Joomla" Campaign?

I think that's a great idea but I do wonder if it might be a bit premature. I think there are a few prerequisites that might need to occur first. ⋅ Completion of the user guide by ledzep and team ⋅ resolution of slow server response in Joomla forums and ability to handle more tra...

Re: Joomla.org connection slow or site not found.

Wow, 75 transactions per second.. I'm also continuing to see slow response and many page not found errors. I would think past a certain point that upgrading the server wouldn't help. Is Joomla using a single server? Has clustering/load balancing been discussed. It's a big step but if the traffic con...
