Re: Discussion about: Upgrade immediately to Joomla! 1.0.11
If anyone else is using Fantastico: I just did the upgrade by FTPing the files using FileZilla to my site. It upgraded fine. For upgrade instructions go here: m Fantastico is sensitive and though I never doubted that an upgrade would work, I wonder if it will "break" the link to Fantastico renderin...

Re: Discussion about: Upgrade immediately to Joomla! 1.0.11
While this is nice to know... it does not call out files that were modified. Is there a list that shows which files were modified? Hi chris_t, Check the full changelog to see whats been changed/fixed: m As you can see quite a lot of security fixes. My advice would be to upgrade, even if it means fix...

Re: Discussion about: Upgrade immediately to Joomla! 1.0.11
How do I go about getting these updates in fantastico? If I upgrade without using fantastico will I compromise future update capability via fantastico?

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
old habits do die hard... I think whomever is going to decide on this, needs to make a decision very soon. There are already over 340 projects.

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
I think "amateurs" do contribute alot! I am one in many areas still! However... There should be some uptraining required in order to use a software forge. Many people do not know how to use one and misclassify, mislead and misrepresent their project. Maybe not intentionally but nevertheless.... it h...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
That will be a good thing but for now... I could live with either method... right now, however, not everyone is following either method... it is a little confusing but I found if I need to, I just rename the zip file as I download and that takes care of that

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
I agree that a naming convention should be followed however I am teetering between which way I like best.. Adding the "com", "bot", "tpl", and "mod" BEFORE the file allows you to group all files by TYPE. But having the NAME first would allow you to group by release. Both ways have definite benefits ...

Re: [A tad important]double zipped downloads [title changed]
ooh, I did not notice the double zipped thing yet... I have just started to download a couple of things.. I have noticed that if you click the actual release, it does seem okay. I did that the other day and had no problems. If you click the checkbox and click on the download selected button, it chan...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
well I have been on the "forge" for the last two hours.. unfrotunately, most of that time has been spent sifting through the new projects without files... We really need a way to see instantly from the main project page the category the file release is in - i.e No Files/Planning, Alpha, Beta, RC, St...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
1. If I (or other site admins that approve projects) see a project with a name and/or description that is meaningless/confusing I reject them with (what I think is) a polite request to resubmit with a better name ("better" in this case being in the eye of the beholder...) Perfect! This will keep th...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
Sorry, I wish I could but I can't help you with a test forge server. I have no problem with someone registering a project that will contain something but to register "joomla test" (or whatever it was) seems counterproductive. There have been times where I HAVE to make changes to live servers (most o...

hmmm okay, I will submit to that view
I see what you are saying. Yes, abuse is harsh but I guess it is technically correct. They should not be using a live server to "test".

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
Don't discount projects like that. Sometimes they are new project leaders trying to get a feel for the site. I wouldn't necessarily call it abuse. Those type of projects at least explain what they are in the title and I don't have to waste time clicking further. I am more annoyed with the projects t...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
Not for nothing but I think if we don't get developer.joomla.org organized soon it will be a real thorn in our side. I have to browse through 280 projects right now with NO idea of what kind of files I might or might not find...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
There are few different problems to getting good USER oriented categories, and more useful content in the forge. Some potential solutions: - Projects with no files do not show up to average users. Vaporware, marketing BS, un-completed/never-completed - all are just noise to the USERS. Perhaps there...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
It would be great to be able to link separate files to different categories. This would allow a visitor to be able to find a template for instance that a developer is working on but once on their project page, they would also see the module and component being worked on. If you can only categorize t...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
It annoys me when I see a project that shows it is STABLE but has NO files and when I look at the project, there is no referencing website or any other information. It is wasteful of anyone's time that looks at this project and there should be a way to report this type of project. I wouldn't b...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
I think a type of feedback system might be helpful such as "Report to moderator" that would be found in most forums. Then anyone looking at a project could question it's placement or existence.

Re: Joomla! logo competition launched - Discussion
Divinechaos brings up a good point: Many of the submissions are not standardized and that will cause more difficulty in comparing and picking the final 5. HOWEVER, I do agree that the rules were set for only 5 and that is how it should be. Good luck to everyone
