Re: Accepting online payments for a non-profit website

You should also take a look at

http://www.amember.com/

Yes, it costs money, but it will do exactly what you want right out of the box (and he'll even install it for you for free).

Best of luck.

Re: CiviCRM, Community Builder, & Joomla

This is really a sore point for me -- part of the reason I've skipped answering is because it makes me mad to think about this -- so search out some of my other tirades and add as much salt (at least a grain) as you think is necessary. Essentially, Community Builder is all about the tabs -- the abil...

Re: To Non-Profit or To Not Non-Profit, That Is The Question

But when I look into the requirements for forming and maintaining a non-profit it seems like more work than it is worth for a small grass roots organization like I envision. Been there, done that, have the proverbial T-shirt. My question is if I can simply solicit donations from people without bein...

Re: Joomla vs Studio 8 and Dreamweaver

Makes a 42 year old feel like a dinosaur, gotta tell ya. I remember 42 ... I had just turned an old desktop machine into something called a "web server" and had gotten Internet connectivity with a 28.8 kbps modem on a telephone line that I "nailed up" (kept off-hook) all the time. The ISP gave me a...

Re: Membership Component?

There are two components that each provide a discrete set of membership management functions: *CiviCRM (m) does many of the basic MM stuff, including bulk e-mailing and newsletter distribution. The component was initially developed for Drupal and more recently has been on a dual-deploymnet track. Yo...

Re: component for online tool lending library?

Hmmm ... interesting idea ...

Do you want to be able to check in and check out tools, somewhat like a lending library?

Re: Contact Database...

Have you seen Community Builder (http://www.mambojoe.com)? From your limited explanation of the features you desire I think it would fit, though it is something of overkill. Take a look if you haven't already.

Best of luck.

See this thread ...

I don't know if this ever got off the ground, and while it doesn't have the terminology you want to use, I think it would meet your basic needs.

Please report back to us what you found.

Best of luck.

Re: What i would require for a non-profit site

I believe the Core Team is integrating phpGACL (http://phpgacl.sourceforge.net/), which will therefore support a wide variety of different authorization schemes, ranging from simple to complex.

Re: Components developed specifically for the non-profit community

I have been looking for a component where I can create a catalogue entry component either on the front or backend for the volunteers to enter the data of the dogs to be adopted. m Currently I am using wrapper to wrap the old script written by one of the volunteer last time. BUt in time to come, I h...

See this thread: http://www.techsoup.org/fb/index.cfm?fuseaction=forums.showSingleTopic&forum=2016&id=54960 I'm partial to InfoCentral ( http://www.infocentral.org ) and if this is only a one-shot fund-raising project, it would work quite well. EBase is good too, but the development team actively di...

Re: Discussion about: Joomla! Brand Guide & Logo Usage Released

You're right on both points and in both instances my typing fingers went faster than my brain. On the copyright thing, I'm sorry for not looking it up before words came flying out of my keyboard. On the foundation thing, I'm not privvy to any special information -- when I had opened the Joomla code ...

Re: Discussion about: Joomla! Brand Guide & Logo Usage Released

The books says the logo is not copyright free. OK, but, who owns the copyright? What is the proper citation? What kind of copyright is it? Logos and slogans aren't copyrighted, their trademarked. The Open Source Matters Foundation owns the trademark (or, to probably be more accurate, the OSMF has a...

Re: Discussion about: Joomla! Brand Guide & Logo Usage Released

Just some observations about the rationale for having a brand manual and set of rules in using the logo: In the world of trademarks, the courts have said that it is the responsibility of the brand holder to set up distinct rules about the trademark's usage and then to vigorously defend those rules. ...
