I downloaded it and I'm very impressed with it!  Thank you very much! Hope that I can solve this problem the right way now.

Many thanks, I have Adobe Elements and tried to reduce the size using their tools and then re-uploaded them and I still got the same result.  I'll look into JCE and see if that is a better fit for me. 

I am a newbie, and just started to learn Joomla. I have figured out how to upload an image (picture) but it is too large when I put it on the front page.  I have a brand new Joomla book but cannot find how to do this in it.  Can someone give me a suggestion?
