Re: Put someone with some maturity in charge...
Argh! Hoist by my own petard Apologies offered. Sometimes I'm too sarcastic for my own good. I do, however, find this endless demonizing of the ubiquitous Micro-corp tiresome, ill-informed and childish in the extreme (given that most of it is propounded by kids who weren't around when the Great God ...

Re: Put someone with some maturity in charge...
Well said, Chris! Umm... Bryant... those more "mature" visitors to this Forum are all well aware of the reasons behind the development of the 1.5 release. Not to mention the eventual (and inevitable) abandonment of support for the original 1.whatever series. The 3rd-party Devs on whom this...

I always wanted to be part of a good conspiracy. Plus (and here's the clincher!), I can do the "raised eyebrow" thing just like Louis... and I'll bring my own tinfoil hat!

Re: What happened to the forum today???
This is the second time in a row I've come to joomla.org to solve a problem to just have to walk away empty handed. First time was last week when I needed to download an upgrade from 1.0.7 and nothing was there. Jeez... well, yeah... I can understand why a regular customer like you would be pissed!...

ridiculously pedantic... over the top... meant to be broken... If that's an example of "reasonable argument" then I'm glad I'm not arguing with you. I too use dozens of different forums (including the one posted by Brad, as it happens!). I have spammy signatures in exactly NONE of them. And let's n...

I didn't know about the "rule". Then, I suggest you read the Rules. Rules are meant to be broken This point of view simply supports my points below. the free online world You seem to think that means "Anarchy" we don't want to be treated like children Then don't behave like one! O...

I say we all chip in and get Louis and Rob a nice ride with dual built-in laptops, redundant servers, 24x7 mobile net access, cappuccino machine, refrigerator, and pro driver.
I'll lend them mine. Also includes rotisserie.

this incident is not confined to joomla.org and needs further attention/investigation. Yes. By the site owners. Who are probably (just like every doofus who comes to these forums bleating about a hack/crack) running any number of insecure components, incorrect chmod, globals on ( ), Joomla 1.0.4 (u...

The Missus will only let me buy ONE T-shirt a year ( ), so I was wondering if there are any plans afoot yet for Joomla UK Day this year? Had a great day in Leeds last year. Looking forward to some more of that cake!

How do you mean match to existing template? I simply meant that, as Cerberus is a stand-alone app, it's default display will not match any Joomla! template you may use for your site. It would be a reasonably easy task to create a skin which matches your Joomla! template. Or, you could always use th...

Hi, Hal! You are using the ExtCal minical module, ain'tcha? Well, it looks like you have the Calendar settings configured to allow anonymous posting to your Calendar, because the "Post New Event" link is visible at the bottom of the Calendar module. That's what TJ meant. Other than that, the site lo...

Hi, jayz! I'm seeing some problems with the header area images alignment (both in IE and FF). Overall, a really good start for ya ... but I'm not sure that the overall "battleship grey" feel of the site invokes any feelings of "healthiness" in me! I really think that as an "ideas incubator", t...

Re: hacks: inserting separator between news content
There is actually no need to do this. The article referenced in your link was written in 2004. There is an existing Joomla css class for an article "seperator", and the code is already built into your pages. All you need to do is create the entry in your template_css.css file. Like so: .article_sepe...

@jb! overwriting the directories with these new ones would delete lots of other files Just what I thought when first playing with ftp, but actually that's not what happens! What it will do, is over-write any copies of the individual updated files contained within those directories, leaving the other...

The hope being that the majority of peoples requirements will be met by what has been produced And so they will, I am sure. Until you decide on the tagline. Then we'll be back here arguing. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I was under the impression that the whole purpose of the Joomla! logo (...

Re: New slogan
My favourite suggestion has to be Rejuvinet's: "Set your sites on it!" As he pointed out, a clever play on words. Undertones of yearning, ambition, striving for the best... etc. Personally, I find all of the "community... togetherness... blah" a little too cloying and twee for a tag line. Anyone int...

There are some really great ideas already, the best being (IMHO) the simpler, "iconic" images. Too fussy an image and you've got repro problems (as pointed out by others here). But... is it only me... or does anyone else see Sam the Golden Eagle in this??? http://82.9.223.48/joomla_candy_small.png M...

Ah, jeez! If the Team gave everyone 5 weeks, a couple of months and a handful of hours to sort their act out, there would still be someone who was kayaking in the Himalays and wanted it holding until they got back.
