My resignation letter from JED

m It is with great regret that I announce my resignation from the Joomla Extensions Directory team, and the Joomla project. Whilst I will always hold a fond place in my heart for the Joomla project and the many wonderful people in it, I find that I can no longer ally myself with the project as a who...

It's standard that ANY developer who is found to be abusing the voting system to be banned for a minimum of one month.

If the hypothetical new version was faithful to the rules then that wouldn't be a problem.

Re: Policy Pitfall?

I think the buyer beware warning is a non-starter, but the limited listing option might have some merit. I'll make sure that other mods see this and see if they have any input.

Re: Download links are dead

MMMedia is not confused by the discussion, she's absolutely spot on with her observations. Let me spell this out simply so that we're clear that you understand: Developers own their extensions, not Joomla. Joomla has neither the right nor desire to make this any different. For the last time: If you ...

Re: Download links are dead

JED has always been about providing the best possible quality listing of current components. If a component has been abandoned by the developer then it is not possible to confirm that it is constantly being reviewed for security issues (as is the responsibility of any developer) therefore we err on ...

Re: Download links are dead

You're making argument for argument's sake because you have a need to kick up a fuss. I don't know why, maybe you're just trolling or in the mood for a fight, but either way your statements don't hold water. Google themselves freely admit that they unlist sites that are hacked, which is a direct par...

If memory serves me correctly, I actually agreed with your comment (if it's the one I'm thinking of), but nevertheless had to disregard it because it isn't actually a review of the extension itself.

Re: Reviews and Votes removed for SmoothGallery Mambot

I will not go into specific details as that would be giving people ideas of ways to get around the system, but in general: A lot of criteria are looked at when deciding if votes are valid or not. Sometimes you can see that somebody has created a bunch of users "user1", "user2". Those are the easy on...

Amy,

Re: Yet another post on reviewing commercial extensions

I have often wanted to alert people to comments that we've received in JED about possible problems, but it's not something that we're allowed to do. If they didn't get the download then they can't review it anyway so that's that out of the door, however see this post:

Re: Yet another post on reviewing commercial extensions

Lots of products, both free and commercial have both good and bad reviews on JED, so I'm not sure where your comment is coming from. We will not allow commercial disputes because it is fraught with legal implications. If you want to grumble about something, do it on your own server, we can't allow i...
