since there are a lot of major changes from 1.0.x to 1.5, especially in terms of core and encoding, how will upgrading work, essentially? i suppose changes to templates and to database will be necessary....
will there be an upgrading mechanism?

i hope not. this sounds more like a slogan for OSM itself, but joomla really needs a good slogan, one of those by dStorm maybe :-)
