Re: Environmental Non-Profit needs small help with template

The trick to turning off the items in the left sidebar on certain pages is found in the module manager.  (Modules -> Site Modules) Take a look at each of the modules that is currently published in the "left" position. When you open one, on the right side of the screen you will see a list of all...

Re: Medley Mag - Putting the spotlight on YOUth!

No, I'm not a pro at all.  Just an amateur. on the css questions, you are right ... it all depends on what the template allows.  It may be best just to leave it as is .  I just really liked that graphic and wanted to see it as large as possible. I also liked the other sites you posted...

Re: Medley Mag - Putting the spotlight on YOUth!

I would keep the border around the modules.

But it looks to me like you might be able to resize the images to be larger and possibly fill the space.

Attached is a rough sample of what I was thinking of.  Hopefully the module will allow you to use more of the space.

Re: Medley Mag - Putting the spotlight on YOUth!

Very nicely done site.  The organization seemed very clear to me, and the first impression was very positive. I would make the following suggestions: On the home page, I liked the graphic in the top left module position under "meet the students."  It was very colorful and attractive. If po...

Re: New Frontiers Charter School

Well, what I was thinking was just to have "San Antonio, Texas" somewhere near the top of the home page.  As I look at the graphic you are using for the masthead (nicely done by the way), there is one place that says "put the city here" so I don't have a specific place in mind. Initially I thou...

Re: New Frontiers Charter School

Nice job. I like the use of the tabs for the vision and mission statements.  If you've got some core values, or other things like that, you could add those to the tab set as well.  I like it and it gave me some ideas for some sites I'm working on. One suggestion:  I like to see the lo...

Re: Development Jobs site

Very nicely done.  The site loads quickly and is very pleasing to the eye and is easy to follow. I would make the following suggestions, though. Personally, I don't like to see page counters so prominently displayed on the front page.  This is purely my personal preference, but it just doe...

Re: I'll throw our church site into the mix

I know what you mean about having your wife proofread stuff.  My wife is an amazing proofreader.  I do stuff, work on it for hours, check it, check it again and think it's perfect, and she comes along and finds 4 errors in the first 3 paragraphs! Amazing. On the Martins / Martians Ferry qu...

Re: I'll throw our church site into the mix

Very good. Hey, I just noticed a few more things things.  In the text of your newsflash about supporting the troops overseas, there are two misspellings and a punctuation error. You have: We want to expand our outreach to our troops over sees do you know any service personel from this area? I t...

Re: I'll throw our church site into the mix

Hi Jason, Very nice.  Pleasant to look at. Here are some suggestions for you to consider: on your main menu, I'd suggest making the capitalization of your menu items consistent. Some have the first letter capitalized, some are all lower case.  I'd suggest choosing one and making all of the...

Re: Neighborhood Organization website

Pete, If that is your first Joomla experience, you have done very well indeed. A few comments: In your header, you have the organization name and address as a graphic.  Some of the letters are small and the graphic makes them a bit hard to read.  They just don't hold up when they go that s...
