Hi everyone, I'm new to joomla and making web pages so please bear with me.

You know how the default joomla template has it so that the front page (index.php) shows, as its main content, summaries of most recent news articles, etc, and that the same "container" is used to show the full articles.

I want it so that in my main page, I don't have that part, I want to display custom modules for the whole page. However, it is only for the front page. I like how full articles are displayed and would wish to keep it that way. I just want to change the look of the front page.

How should I go about doing this? Will I only need to change the index.php file in the template? Or will I have to modify the content component?
