Any restrictions for new moduls?

Post by Sunset2 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:54 pm

Hello,

:-[

just wanted to ask if there are certain guidelines or restrictions newly made components and moduls need to follow. Say, if I wanted to bring in a new modul that will be publically available for everyone. Is there something to look for before the community will accept it?

thx guys

Sunny

i have used some really bad behaving modules downloaded from extensions.joomla so this means that guidelines if any, have no meaning at all.

i guess it would be up to us to make our extensions useful and behaving well, in the interest of our users. don't know of any guideline apart from the general programming guidelines and certain small joomla specific guidelines ( like using core routines rather than 3rd party routines ). really depends on what you wanna do i guess.

The only rules I can find are for JoomlaCode. If you are to make a project there you need to follow those rules. Otherwise I think you are free. http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/2333/98/
