I get following message when I try to do a search on this forum "Your query was not specific enough. Try using larger words, or less common phrases. ". It doesn't matter what I write. (I use IE on Win XP)
Has anyone else of you the same problem?

This is the cause... most likely

Due to the size of the forums, we have to limit the search to full words. I think this is the issue you may be confronted with.
Thanks for understanding.

Actually I think the problem is that when there are no search results it gives the error message "search not specific enough". It SHOULD say "No results found. Maybe search was TOO specific." I assume this is a SMF problem?

I really have no idea. Above was just a speculation. Maybe someone else has an idea...

Yup, I faced it right now,
while searching for the zoom fuction in the template,
I am talking abt the A+ , A- , Reset thingy that is used at the forum...
Previously only searching for A+ A-
would have returned an result but now it doesn't,
Now even searching for A+ A- Reset also says this
Maybe brad is getting too strict around here.

Re: Search function isn't working?
I have a problem with not knowing if my search returned no results or was really not specific enough. I also posted another thread about getting different results with the same keywords. Somehow the search needs to let you find what you are looking for without the user thinking about all the rules the search is using.xlsg wrote:Actually I think the problem is that when there are no search results it gives the error message "search not specific enough".
