Please read the rules: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,65.0.html and use the 'report to moderator' link to make requests like this. Unless, of course, you are trying to add to the moderating load.

I am answering your question to me since you are the Administrator of this forum, I believe it is my responsibilty to respond to you. You asked me if I am trying to add to the load on your moderators. No, I am not!

In fact, the 23 hours of straight of help I volunteered yesterday was to REDUCE the load on your moderators, but mainly, to help our community members protect their websites. It was important.

It was after 3am this morning when I saw this post in the General section. I did not have more time to resolve the problem, so, I thought the least I could do is try to get it moved to where I thought help might arrive more quickly.

IMO, your rudeness to me for not requesting this service in the manner you prefer greatly outweighed the apparent horrific burden I created when I asked nicely for this one post to be moved.

Typically, your game of public humiliation is followed by a locked thread, not a question you want answered.

Now - what rule did I break? I believe you broke this one: "Keep all commentary civil, and be courteous at all times"

If you are suggesting I broke this rule: "If you feel a post violates any of these rules, please use the ‘report to modertor’ link to notify the moderators."

I completely disagree! I did not believe ampop violated a rule that should have been reported! Do you? I just thought quicker help could be located in the Upgrade thread. I do not see a rule in that list that addresses this condition. I did the best I knew how and I was trying to help. And, I did help.

In case I was not clear, if you want to contact a moderator PLEASE USE THE 'report to moderator' link. This includes requests to move/close etc etc threads. Moderators are not able to read the over 1400 (some days) posts every day, so this feature is built in to SMF to help you help us moderate and save TIME, and EFFORT, and... everything else..

If you feel a post violates any of these rules, or you need to bring it to the attention of a moderator (move threads/close/split), please use the ‘report to modertor’ link to notify the moderators.

However, common sense, and numerous requests for you to use this feature should have made the addition unnecessary.

Nope. That is not the right direction. Not even CLOSE! You were extremely rude and it was inappropriate. You were also wrong. I did not break a rule. And, I'm not letting you off the hook on this.

Allow me to assist you with your new skill acquisition, it is called 'the apology.' Here is what I think you were trying to say. But, it looks a lot more like this:

We are all very stressed due to the number of hours we have each put in to help our community with these security issues. It is entirely possible this morning that I was an < #$* > when I inappropriately responded to your note asking a moderator to move the thread to the correct area.

Looking back at my comments, I can see that those comments was snotty and accusatory. Worse yet, I failed to recognize the effort and assistance you had been providing our community and regularly provide our community. Worse still, this is far from the first time I have done that to YOU.

Will you PLEASE accept my apology? I just wasn't thinking. I was tired. I was STUPID. I was wrong. < Feel free to go with it, here, Brad, and improvise. >

Then, Brad, I would probably look at your note for a few minutes - stunned - because I have never gotten such a note from you before in my entire time here. And, I would be incredibly touched and grateful. Then, once I "gathered myself", I would say something like:

Brad -

First of all, thank you so very much for caring enough to say you are sorry. You canNOT imagine how great that makes me feel. It MORE than completely resolves any hard feelings I had. We all have bad days, me more than most.

I understand you are overworked and have been the entire Joomla! year. You are always working for us, tirelessly, constantly, day after day after day. I do not know how or why you do it but I know many of us, myself included appreciate you and have nothing but respect for you. Your dedication, Brad, is part of the reason why I try to help. You have a heavy load. Many of us would like to make it easier for you.

Next time, if I think it would be good to move a thread, I will CERTAINLY use the "notify moderator" function! And, even though you would THINK I have the common sense that would help me know what you want me to do, as it turns out, I am very dense when it comes to rules. Think about it -- you know that is true!  Believe it or not, Brad, I do not MEAN to cause you trouble, it just comes naturally. You might even chuckle to know that many times you think I am causing trouble, I think I am helping! I recognize that I am not always helpful and for that I very sincerely apologize and hope you at least understand it was my intent.

Now, let's move on. No problem! And, thanks, again, Brad. I know that is hard for you to apologize, and for that reason, your efforts are DOUBLEY recognized and appreciated.

You can pick a, b or c a) Yes, what you said. b) Grunt in approval. or c) Say, "Hey, I was wrong and I am sorry."

But, pick one and show me a little respect and quit this stupid nonsense. We don't even need a rule for you to know when you do this, it is not nice or right. It is hurtful. Just stop it, especially the public crap, then, you don't have to hit your freaking head anymore. You'll get it.

PS - thanks for using that me thing, i always forget how to do it. You and a couple of other people use it, but you do so infrequently and when I want to use it, I can't find an example. Now that I know how, I will use it so much, you will have to make a new rule prohibiting its use.

Whatever... I'm sorry for not even reading the above post in it's entirety. I really don't want to argue, but it seems I can't get a simple message through, so here goes, yet again:

Please just fit in with the community around here... and follow the rules for contacting the moderators, as that was the original reason for your post. All of this time wasted, and energy, and emotion... one click on 'report to moderator' : Please can we move this thread. All done, no one upset.

It's all so simple and easy to fit in...

I'm sorry if I may have offended you. I try to keep my comments brief and to the point, and obviously that upsets you, so, again, I'm sorry.

Please can we just leave this thread now.. the simple request to use the report to moderator should have been clear.
