Anyone want to help with....

Post by tjay » Fri Oct 19, 2007 2:22 am

I am struggling along trying to get some modules working for phpbb3 in joomla 1.5
sadly not moving as quickly as I need to.
Anyone interested in teaming up with me?

It would be nice to have mentors working with small groups to get some action back into the skype chats and some actual project coding going on
This day it is my wish that I helped you to live

I'd be glad. Because in the last couple of days, I took a look at rc6-7 and liked it a lot. It would be good to get some experience about Joomla development, as well as Phpbb3.

Great I have started dabbling with the code, though I am no coder by any means
Since I am testing the bridge my plan is to try and leverage the connections to the tables for phpbb3 to retrieve latest post and such to a module in 1.5

so far little success

I'm not a coder or programming, either. Same situation here. :)

If we are talking about latest posts we should consider what guests can see and what they can't. So examining phpbb source code would be good for this job.

This PHPBB mod, "Last Posts Titles", may help.  I haven't looked at the code to make sure, but it is along the same lines as this topic.

I'm still learning this MVC thing.  I thought I had it last night, but took my test project to a IIS machine today and the db lookups would not work.

I'm willing to help though.  Especially if it helps me in learning J! development a bit more.

Some brainstorming about what we can do could be useful, I think.
