Components Hack categories & and suggestion regarding updated extensions

Post by coolparth » Fri Nov 23, 2007 7:05 am

Extensions Mods..
Can you create a master category called as component Hacks? Like the one for joomla called Core hacks? We have a lot of hacks that can be posted in such a category which lot of people can use.

We think that will be very useful.

Also can we have a recently updated extensions shown somewhere? Because sometimes critical updates are made to extensions based on feedback from people & there is now way to let them know when it goes up..somewhere where its seen quickly.

Regards

Don't know how many we have of these, there are limitations to placing hacks on the Extensions Directory.

Hacks which alter Joomla! source code must do so through the standard Joomla! install and uninstall process. Uninstalling should revert any changes made to Joomla! source code.

Install Uninstall isnt a issue.

But i am talking about component hacks here. Modified files which enhance functioning of components.

Hi coolparth,

Hacks that enhance an already listed extension would be better to send to the original developer, and thereby help them improve their work.

In case you want an enhanced extension listed, you would need to make a proper fork. We wont accept a new submission that make use of same naming (by just adding a 'extensionA-enhanced', same file naming and same graphics.
A proper fork should have own naming, own filenaming etc.

Individual files/hacks that improves a currently listed extension, but will need manual extraction/upload, can´t be listed.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. Have contacted the Rs2 Developers & asked them to check out the hack!

Thanks
