main menu: two-line menu item?

Post by smallvoice » Tue Dec 11, 2007 3:11 am

On the menu on my static site (http://first-encounter-design.com), which I'm in the process of recreating locally in Joomla 1.5, my main menu has an item (Web Design and Redesign) which is on two lines. Is there a way to insert a
in a menu item in Joomla to have it on two lines.? So far I've just shortened it to 'web design' on one line. But it does leave me with the question of the possibility of having a two-line menu item. Any ideas or link to tutorials on making menu modifications in Joomla.

This is my first attempt at learning a cms and it's quite an interesting (if frustration can be considered interesting) journey!
Thanks for any help/advice,
Bill

Hi Bill,

I personally believe that the best way to achieve that is create your on module for that navigation bar. That way you have the control over that part of your markup.

Cheers,
Uwe

Thanks for your response, Uwe. As I said in my post, I'm reallyl new at this. So I think creating my own module is way beyond my current ability! Something I did do: In order to have my custom-built contact form, I created a static html page and linked to that from my main menu. For the static page (which is outside Joomla) I used my original [static html] menu and then linked back with absolute links. There isn't anything on that page (except a copyright date in the footer) that will change, so I felt fairly comfortable going that route. Wouldn't want to do something like that for my main menu, though (just write in a static menu, I mean). What's the point of having a CMS if most of the site becomes static to work around problems, right?  ;)

Thanks for your response, though, and if you can point me in a direction that might instruct me on how to achieve what you suggested, I'll certainly take a read.
Cheers,
Bill
