SVN evolves everyday.
Bug squashing goes on until final will be ready.

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.5 RC4 --- Introducing Karibu
This is excellent news and I can't wait to give it a go. Well done everyone.
I don't mean to be picky but (from my perspective in Nairobi) 'Karibu' on it's own is mostly used to say 'You're welcome' in the sense of 'you're welcome into my house', or as a reply to 'thank you'
The use of karibu as in 'near' would normally be used WITH the thing that one is near

It is people like you that makes the world a better place.
Thank you so much to everybody that contributed to this 1.5 RC4 release and who are still busy contributing to the 1.5 stable production release.

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.5 RC4 --- Introducing Karibu
I am thinking about installing a SEF extension like sh404sef in my current version 1. installation but as 1.5 is near should I bother. What I mean is will 1.5 come with better SEF set up.
Hope this is the right place to ask

@trews:
Since xmas passed by now I wish you a very good 2008.
Oh yes, since you have a certain view of our devs, who work in their free time of course, why don't you see if you can get some valuable input to Joomla? It is very easy to kick but than stay out of the wind

This is not quite the right place to ask, you get a better result at this
http://forum.joomla.org/http://phpbb.joomla.org//viewforum.php?f=8.0
But since you are asking anyway , It is difficult for me to say if the SEF in 1.5 is better than you want to use in V1. What I do know is that a lot of effort has gone into the SEF functionality of 1.5 and from personal experience it starts to look very good.
I had it switched on for a couple of weeks now and have had no problems.

Thanks for that, I ask as I would rather stay with Joomla core stuff as much as possible and if 1.5 is improving this area then its fine with me.

Congratulations to all who were involved. I'll start evaluating today and will move a live site from RC3 to RC4 as soon as I've made sure that nothing broke in the process.
Happy New Year to all!

Great work on part of the Joomla teams. Now the great question....when do we expect the Stable version of Joomla 1.5? Is there any timetable or milestone date for it? It would greatly help some of the new webmasters who are trying to make their site joomla compliant. Thanks

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.5 RC4 --- Introducing Karibu
please please avoid to talk about a stable version! Also RC4 has a lot of bugs (see the Bug forum) and some strange behaviours in your site URL. I hope to see a RC5 too and maybe other Bug squashing days too!!

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.5 RC4 --- Introducing Karibu
Wilco has a great blog that spells out the finalization details required to go live with Joomla! v 1.5. He said "Stable should be declared when all priority 1 (P1) and 2 (P2) artifacts are resolved and all translations have been completed."
So, if we want to know status, we can review the tracker. If you are one who has been doing so, then you also have a sense of the rapid progress we are making towards those goals. As of this exact moment, there are zero priority 1 (P1) items and seven priority 2 (P2) items.
If you have bugs, report those bugs right away in the Joomla! v 1.5 Quality and Testing board. I watch the activity on that board closely. Consider this: there are seven threads last updated today; ten threads last updated with yesterday's date; one thread last updated on December 31; four threads last updated on December 30th; and, three threads on the 29th...
You, do the math.

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.5 RC4 --- Introducing Karibu
Thank you Amy for your indeep sight! I have another issue to share with you and it isn't a problem of bugs... in my mind, before a stable release, well, I'd like to see some "improvements" before "all is done, sorry" version,

Some estimate there are nearly 2,000,000 Joomla! websites in existence. There are over 150,000 forum members in the Joomla org site, alone. So, certainly we have resources needed to get things done. No one should suffer needlessly or wait for someone else to take care of their needs. If there are things we want done - let's get after it! Find others with common interest and start making things happen. Nothing need stop the Joomla! community.

I agree with you, but in that specific issue the problem is a core one... and I don't like hacks and/or forks! But as you certainly know nothing is perfect in our world

I've not been able to get to the 1.5 RC4 download page for a couple of hours, is there a problem with the joomlacode.org site?

I think so, today is a bad day for joomlacode! But don't worry a little of patience and we can see the Great Joomla SVN !

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.5 RC4 --- Introducing Karibu
sooo..... in seeing that everything is lvl 3 and higher, does that mean that the stable release will be out this week?
Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.5 RC4 --- Introducing Karibu
No idea about release dates but I have this running on a non prouction site I think you call it and I must say I really like it. There are a lot of improvements all round, but it remains the joomla we know.Cracking so far.
