Thanks for sharing your ideas with us. Always welcomed.
We agree that currently there is too much clicking when it comes to learning about compatibility.
This will be changed at next update of JED (We have this working in sandbox already )

Not sure about the demo and other detail view links in general view. Could get too crowdy up front.

Just letting people know that there is a sneak preview screen shot here of these soon-to-be-coming changes:

Moderator note: Topic moved from 1.5 General Questions to Joomla! Extensions Directory Forum.

That will be easier to find the 1.5 compatible extensions later. Read more here:

I can't say when, but it will be "soon". It has taken longer time than we anticipated. We are all aware of the necessity of the update.

Hi,

maybe for now joomla team could add a version filter to the extensions section so when searching for compatible extensions this will be faster and easier.

I'm really amazed that this simple of a feature with such a huge usability factor is taking this long to roll out... ???

I'll add my vote. Now that 1.5 Stable is released it will be very useful to know native extensions from legacy extensions for those of us who want to build only 1.5 native sites.

Divide the extension section into j1 and j1.5 [poll]

Post by swiftcorey » Thu Jan 24, 2008 4:05 am

It is hard to find extensions that are 1.5 compatible so please make it easier by dividing the results into 1.5 and 1 compatibility.

Let this be a poll to show the need for quicker development of this site feature.

shuddddduppp lol :'(

I just think it needs to be more seriously looked at. It is a very simple task to make a browse function.

I think the volunteers are working as fast as they can, given the number of resources they have available.

I also find myself thinking, especially this first week following such a major release, I wonder if perhaps there are also other things going on that might be consuming resources, too?

I wonder why you believe they are not seriously looking at this?

I think it is presumptuous to assume something is a very simple task with no idea what the task actually entails.

Have you thought of any of those things, SwiftCorey?

Well I'm presuming its very simple.

Just add a function with a link saying select * from db where version 1.5. I mean thats mega simple and obviously they have a more complicated database, but its not to far from that.

SwiftCorey -

Would you be willing to provide that code? And also, instructions for how to install and configure it.

When it comes right down to it, we need to each help - do something productive - contribute.

Let's see what you got!

Did you know that you could do an advanced search? And that one of the options is to select 1.5 or 1.0 extensions? Now, what would be beneficial (I think) is to have the compatibility listed on the page w/o having to go into the component first., maybe right below the C/M/T icons.....

Good point.

You mean, like this?

That's what I was trying to tell SwiftCorey in my first response. They are working on it - have been for awhile.

Good thing we have volunteers who are smart, concerned, and working hard, as quickly as they can, for free, on our behalf.

If we had to wait on polls to magically create volunteers, we might wait a good, long time.

If you have knowledge of how simple a feature it is to roll out, please do contact someone on the team to volunteer your time to show them how absolutely simple it is.  I am sure they would appreciate the help.

Sweet! Is this the line for an iPhone?

Judging from the number of people hoping to separate out the old v 1.0 extensions from the bright and shiny new Joomla! v 1.5 MVC Application Architecture modules, plugins and components, I would say Joomla!'s future is bright!  8)

While we are waiting, we can learn to build an extension, help Chris and Ian out with some of the documentation (oh, come on! we can give a few hours--it's fun!), donate a few bucks or check out some of the v 1.5 extensions build by the GHOP contestants, and make certain we have each celebrated in the big thread!

Rock on Joomla! v 1.5 community! Thanks to each of you who helped make it possible!

...and those extensions in the 1.5 section should be truly 1.5 compatible, NOT 1.5 with the legacy module.

requesting enhancements for extensions.joomla.org

Post by mroswell » Mon Jan 28, 2008 3:07 pm

1. 1.5 support icon display at the list level (rather than having to drill down to detail.)
2. Easy way to filter for J1.5 extensions, while still seeing categories
3. comments in reverse chronological order

These enhancements strike me as essential. Can the person(s) who maintain extensions.joomla.org contact me to correspond about this? mroswell _AT_gmail

Thanks!

Margie

Hey,

I can support this request as I now often find myself spending much longer than I should looking for extensions for J1.5 specifically.  Given the release of a stable 1.5 I think it is imperative that people, especially joombies can find their way to the correct extensions quickly and with a logical ease.
