Here are some surefire, tried-and-true ways to euthanize your user group, whether you're just starting out, or your group's been up and going for a while. I'm tellin' you, these ideas work!
1. Post one or two things here in Joomla.org and call that "your best" attempt to promote it.
2. Show up late to your own meeting.
3. Focus on the negative, the politics and the Joomla gossip, rather than education.
4. Do a half-assed website, and don't ask for help.
5. Don't let anyone else speak but you.
6. Charge a lot of money to join.
7. For Gosh sakes, whatever you do, do NOT make food or drink available.
8. Be offended by every question - particularly about your authority.
9. Act like you know it all, because, after all, you do, right?
10. Since you started late, then you should probably let it drag on, and end it late too.
Or don't do any of that crap...and you're bound to succeed.
If you want some real tips on how to make it work, we've got quite a few folks in our group who "get it." Feel free to join our forum at http://www.JoomlaChicago.com or PM me any time.

Well, guess you're learning from your mistakes .
Nice ad... good way to promote.
One of these days I actually have to see how the NYC group is doing. Was hoping to hook up, but my life has been a bit too busy for treking down to the island.

If you're not a part of the solution, you're a part of the problem.
