On our church's website (http://www.ascensionfdl.org), we are currently using JCal Pro.  I just met with many of our church staff this evening to show them the new site and how they can now edit their own content.  Our church staff uses MS Outlook to schedule room use, and they use MS Publisher to create a monthly calendar that gets sent out to our members via the post office.  The staff's concern is that the online calendar is a third calendar for them to maintain.  I'd be curious to know what other's do?  Which Joomla-based calendards do you use?  I'd be interested in having something that would be able to import from Outlook or something similar.  There's got to be a way that we can make this work for everyone involved.

The commercial calendar component Thyme works with Outlook Express.

I have not used it and there may be others. It runs $50 US.

Yes...I was looking at this last evening.  I was in e-mail correspondence with someone at that company last evening.  Unfortunately, they do not offer reduced pricing or even offer their software for free to non-profit organizations.  Their price for Thyme remains at $50.

I am pretty sure you will only find only commercial software that will meet this need.

You could also import and export SQL data using phpMyAdmin to CSV, but I'm not sure your church members will find that convenient--that is basically what Thyme is doing except they give you a convenient interface.

Otherwise, I suspect that you will have to weigh the value of time versus the value of Thyme.

Of course if your church can aford licenses for outlook i'm sure they can afford $50 for thyme

Ah...very clever use of words, Steve.    I was looking at the Thyme's website last night and could not figure out which file to download (to install their demo).  Any of you know which one(s) to get?

It depends upon the server environment. I'd suggest getting in touch with your webhost's support.

Hi...it's me again...the original poster. I recently found out that we might have some extra funds available for purchasing software. Based on my original posting for this topic, are there any good, new Joomla-based products out there that might be a solution for us? Or, do we need to consider looking at something non-Joomla integrated. If so, what calendar products are out there that you might know about? I'd be interested in knowing more. Thanks.

Thyme calendar is the best calendar I´ve ever seen.
Their customer support is amazing, and I very happy with this piece of software.
