COSP - Community for Open Source Promotion

Post by shoaibi » Sun Mar 09, 2008 6:34 pm

COSP is Community for Open Source Promotion. It is a community established by graduate students to promote open source and target basically students. This community is currently moving towards public recognition in pakistan and also getting people to join the team from other countries like Singapore, egypt, japan and etc. Soon we will have COSP Singapore as a sub team of COSP along with the first child COSP pakistan. COSP has conducted workshops, seminars, on hands lab training sessions, quizes and etc to promote and train people of open source either totally free of cost or less than a dollar per week. We have conducted workshops on Linux, LAMP, LaTeX and some exhbitions as well. In the future our upcoming workshops will be about Linux, Open Source and Education, Open Source programming langauges and CMS.

We are just a bunch of noobs, who learn things by ourselves and then teach those things to other people, none of us is a certified professional or something like that, but we like it this way, a colloborative effort.

Our site is http://www.cosp.org.pk
Soon we will also get http://www.cosp.org trasnferred.

Now comes the basic thing that why i am posting this. Well i am not an experienced joomla user, and we are using joomla 1.0.15 for our site. We had two people in our team who had a little know-how of joomla, first being me and second ruthie. We ate short on man power, our site has been developed quite much, but still needs some work. So we are looking for people who like contributing to open source and have sometime. If you would like to contribute, please visit site and see the first post, have a look at the TODO, and if you like, you can email at [email protected] to get an account for contribution. Or if you would like to join this community, then please visit the Join Us page there, and follow instructions. We will be gald to have you as an active contributer in this team. Thanks for reading the post.
