anyone know why this was removed from the extensions site?
It was there yesterday.

I'm wondering if it was because the reviews seems a bit, uh, formulated?
Or was it a security issue?

I wish there would be some place where we can see reasons why things get removed or changed.

Yes, we unpublished the IXXO cart yesterday since we have an issue with the reviews and votings. Until it has been sorted out, it will stay unpublished for some time.

I can understand that you and others are wondering why extensions get unpublished and why there isn't any note about it. We are very pro-active and the unpublishing or removal can depend on several different reasons like abusement of JED, i.e. false votes, false reviews, clone accounts, voting down competitors etc, copyright/IP infringements, issues in the code revealing peoples privacy, extensions that don't work with the latest versions of Joomla!, dead download links and vulnerabilities etc.

When there are vulnerabilites, we have very good experiences from the 3rd party developers and they are normally very quick to fix any vulnerability. We have compiled a list of extensions and which versions are vulnerable

One problem to inform vs not to inform about unpublished extensions is that we don't want to do a wall of shame list.

As for those reviews, I thought it was pretty obvious they were false reviews, since they were all done within a week of the component showing up, and they all said basically the same thing.

It was just a little unsettling having it disappear, right after I had installed it. The installation process makes you set permissions on some folders to 777, which goes against common practice. And though you change them back to 755 after install, it made me wonder whether there was a security issue.

I checked the vulnerable list quickly, then try to search for anything in the forum about it. All I could find was a couple posts 'announcing' the cart.

And, the site for ixxocart is not much help either, since it seems to be in transition, confused over whether to push their old software, or the new component for Joomla.

Hopefully when it shows back up in extensions, there will be 'real' reviews.

Well guys, I have also recently had by this IXXO company. Trying to get a refund from paypal....but i doubt it will happen.

I purchased this software because of the reviews from the Joomla Extensions site...and since my purchase...I tried to install it on Joomla 1.5...which didnt work....permissions had to be changed on my server to exactly 777 for it to work....Plus this software sends data back to them...from your server....not too sure what exactly...I quickly uninstalled it. I bought the SEO package (250$ add-on) from them as well...thinking the package was an actual add-on...
Plus i purchased this software because they said on their site...Unlimited installs on your server....then once I told them i could only install it in one joomla instance...they said that was normal...
Went back to their site...and they changed their license description to Unlimited email support....!!!!

You might get lucky finding that page as it was written when you bought your stuff (versus the change) by using the Internet Wayback Machine (http://www.archive.org)

It will show you what it said on the IXXO site (or any other site) in a given month in history.

If you can show the archive page to PayPal, it might help your case by showing a change in policy after a complaint by you.

I tried to use firefox cache browser add-on...But if I remember ixxo cart's home page was freggin https...so i couldnt cache nothing on my system...and now all the sudden their site is not only http.

Interesting, blocking wayback archives of the site. Sneaky.

So far, I was able to get the shop to work. Well, actually, they got it to work for me.

When I asked for an updated FAQ, or wiki, or forum or anything for me to troubleshoot with, they mentioned that they are updating everything.

I have to say though that it looks really really good, once installed. Much easier to setup than VM, but a headache installing so far. And I don't have time to follow up as much as I want.

In a way, their support has been pretty good, and they've been taking care of things as asked. But, it's an odd feeling not being able to fix it ourselves, like almost all other extensions.

I'll report back when I get time to dig in more.

I was shocked to see that you decided to delete my post. This was not a commercial disagreement. No where in my post did I reference a commercial disagreement or dispute (nor am I currently involved in any.) I came across this thread and posted information in an effort to help other people learn from what I have learned about the product in question (others provided similar information in this thread.) To that matter, I stuck to the facts in my statements. My ONLY purpose was to help people avoid the same pitfalls - that is it. Although this may have violated the rule that this forum is for questions/comments/praise about the 'extensions site' and not the extensions themselves, I was only following the example that had already been set in this thread (and did not realize until later that the my post and the bulk of the posts in this thread technically don't belong in this forum.)

Generally, it isn't any problem to talk about this kind of issues as long it is in general speaking, but as fast we are talking about a specific developer then it gets problematic. This since the postings then very easy tends to become a commercial dispute or wall of shame thread. Generally, we feel the best thing is to try to solve the issues with the developer direct or take the discussions somewhere else. I know it can sound quite harsh but our forum isn't really the right place.

We feel a great responsibility for our members and we are very keen about what we see in the reports and reviews. If we notice that a commercial developer doesn't handle their customers in a good way and there are many complaints, then we open an investigation and asking the developer about the issues and ask him to improve. If we still see there are problems then we can unlist the developers extensions. Most times the developers are very obliging and I feel that most developers run their businesses and customer relations exemplary. Of course there are and have been exceptions.

This thread was about a link that didn't work and later why the extension wasn't listed. It has been answered and of reasons mentioned here above, I'm locking the thread.

It was bordering to becoming a wall of shame, I do not remember the exact words but they could be called at least negative about the IXXO people. And about following the example....if someone drives through a red light, do you follow that too? I don't, because there are rules
