Hello, all.
I had never heard of CMS or Joomla a week ago. My son started Kindergarten this year, and I volunteered to help out the schools Booster Club (PTA) with their technology needs. I tweaked a couple things on their existing static web site and soon yearned for something more. I forget what the exact keywords were that lead me to Mambo then to Joomla, but I'm sure glad I found it. I ordered a book on Amazon. The book arrived today, but I was already well into having a functional site up for our Booster Club. Joomla is really a fabulous system.
I was very happy to find this particular sub-forum where others are trying to fill the needs of other volunteer organizations like mine. I've already found a few leads here, to do things like donations and volunteer sign-up which I wanted to address next.
My first goal was to emulate the existing static web site with a Joomla! site, with the modest goal of letting our board members add events and information without having to email their requests to me. I'm almost there.
Check out what I've got so far, if you like.
BCE Booster Club
Hopefully, by next year, parents will be able to pre-order and pay for their kids school supplies online!
First post, first site, glad to be here!

Hi Nimai,
Pleasure to have you here. I think you'll find this software, and its community, to be very empowering to your organization. We developed this forum specifically for people like yourself, looking to bounce ideas and non-profit related questions off the rest of the community.
If you find yourself with any technical questions, feel free to post them in the Technical Forums; however, if you'd like to have discussions regarding ways your organization can better use Joomla, you've come to the right place.
Nice to have you hear, enjoy your stay.
Best,
Ryan
