Forum RSS feed?
Thanks for your hard work to all, i just wonder if there is a feed available for this forum?
Re: Forum RSS feed?
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/type,rss/action,.xml
You can also add other parameters, such as:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/type, ... ction,.xml
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/type, ... ction,.xml
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/type, ... ction,.xml
Additionally, you can limit it by board:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board ... ction,.xml
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board ... ction,.xml
You can also increase the number of items given:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/type, ... ction,.xml
If your feed reader does not like RSS 0.93, you can also use RDF (type set to rdf), Atom 0.3 (type set to atom), RSS 2.0 (rss2), and a proprietary format with more information (by not setting it at all.)

Re: Forum RSS feed?
Some newsreaders have problems with the above, you can use this syntax also :
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?actio ... s&limit=20
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?actio ... s&limit=20

Re: Forum RSS feed?
Or you can use ; instead of & for those that have problems with that syntax. I'm really not sure why newsreaders are so picky, but they are - for example, Google will only accept (from what I've seen) them if they end with .xml.

I'm not sure myself, but I've run into far too many various problems with newsreaders - for example, some (like Google's personalized homepage) require it to end in .xml or similar. Others don't always support & or other characters in URLs (even if that makes no sense.)
Most are tolerant, however.

Some OS X dashboard widgets using Apple's sample code from their developer website won't display anything using the /param,value syntax.

Re: Forum RSS feed?
Any way to get an rss feed for a particular topic?
I've tried adding "/topic,##/" - but that doesn't seem to do the trick.
I think I could subscribe to the topic and then set my email notifications to send every reply - but it appears that setting is "global" rather than on a per topic basis, and I don't necessarily want every reply to every subscribed topic coming to me via email.

Re: Forum RSS feed?
Hi,
This link works perfect:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board,8.0/type,rss/sa,recent/limit,20/action,.xml
But when I try to get the Dutch board with:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board,13.0/type,rss/sa,recent/limit,20/action,.xml
it doesn't work. Why is that

Re: Forum RSS feed?
It doesn't do child boards. If you want child boards, you should use:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?board ... ction=.xml
Unfortunately, currently SMF does not support the search engine friendly style properly with that list. This is due to the commas, of course.... which is a limitation I mean to work on.
Edit:
[me="[Unknown]"]wishes this template used overflow: auto like the default...[/me]

Re: Forum RSS feed?
I modified the forum template on a SMF I run to include an RSS link on all forums.
Check out http://www.kampforum.com/forum/
As you can see all boards and childboards have the RSS link on top

Re: Forum RSS feed?
I'd like a feed that showed all new posts in all forums except the International ones. I kinda stoopid, I don't speak any other languages...
Can anyone provide me with a link to generate such a feed? The are a LOT of forums here. Thanks!
torkil, great job. Please post how you did it when you get a sec...

Re: Forum RSS feed?
How about for our own integrated forums?
I would like to offer my users a live feed, but I want it to take them to the wrapped forum, not the standalone.
I have the cms installed in my web root, smf in a subfolder, with SEF on, but I should be able to link with our without sef, right?
Tried these, without result:
http://www.domain.com/component/option, ... ction,.xml
http://www.domain.com/component/option, ... ction,.xml
http://www.domain.com/index.php?option= ... ction=.xml

You used "board" not "boards". If you wish to list multiple boards, use boards not board.

I'm not sure if the integration plays nice with feeds.

Re: Forum RSS feed?
Maybe it's an idea to put the default feed links on the forum frontpage so more people will benefit from this? It's not that obvious to look over here when you're looking for the feeds.

Re: Forum RSS feed?
I just noticed the RSS icon in Firefox! Good going
Edit: It would even be more usefull to increase the amount of shown items. Five is just a bit small because this forum goes very, very fast!

Re: Forum RSS feed?
I have confirmed that the following RSS feed is genuine as it works in Google Personalised web pages....
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board ... ction,.xml
So, I guess, my question is answered... The feed is ok....
I still need help on how to get this to show up in SMF, but that is not for this thread.

Re: Forum RSS feed?
This was exactly what I had been looking for.
When I read the rss feed I only get the first line of the post. Is is possible to have it the whole instead?
