Well the idea was to make a hand and if you notice it is all composed by small j's. I like colors, it will fit any website IMO. I did it using inkscape so I have the svg files from this work. (svg=scalable vector graphics).

Just to show that I spend more time with code than doing graphics ;-)

While all of the other designs are derived from text (the ones I've contributed included) this one stands out, I believe in a very good way.  It will take a while for the association between a purely graphical image and the joomla name, but no one can deny the the * evokes mambo, and the swoop evokes nike. 

A non-text logo has the potential to transcend anything that contains text, so my vote goes here so far.

I just used a few from my Adobe Font Folio OpenType Collection to get some ideas.  I'm too lazy to open illustrator and draw some tonight

I like the OSM Logo .. but maybe with eyes.  I also like the funky image that looks like a coloured turkey.
If you had the "feathers" changing colour in a cool gif/flash that would rock.

What about putting the coloured feathers on the "O" of the first one.

And have the "Green O" with the feathers as the icon.
or have the feathers be eyelashes on two OOs (and have the OOs look more like eyes ?)

Agreed. The only thing I don't like about Peek's work is the font. It's just a tad lightweight in kerning and styling to go with this very dominant logo. The logo and the typeface has to provide more balance to convey the message.

My vote is for this also.  It has a very good look and feel and could be done on almost anything, hats, t-shirts, it can scale in size.etc.

I just tryed to match the website font that is on the joomla.org for you to see how it looks like. I was not my main ideia to design the font, just the logotype.

One thing to consider, is that this logo needs to look good when very very small (favicon.ico) as well as large when used as the site logo.

That said, the colorful hand may be a bit over the top. It looks ok large (even though I dont like the design) but its just going to be a blob of colors at a small scale.

What about having the one of the Os in Joomla be the fancy icon, and the other O be the OSM O.

but then again, the fancy icon is not immediately recognized as an O.
