Hi there, i have loved mambo, and know i received the information that "his death".
Im a 16 years old boy from portugal. i make 2 logos. i known is nothing amaizing but just try to "be nice".

My 1st attempt at anything like this - but seeing as how I am a crappy coder and thus cant contribute code.... I thought I would try my crappy art skills instead lol

Explanations:

Bright distinct colours as is the ex-m*mb* way

I liked the ant idea as they represent small individuals that when working together are incredibly strong, just like the OSS community and particularly this one! So as you can see the ants (i.e. community)are carrying the weight of Joomla!

All the ants are facing forwards... never back

There is also a subtle linking of the o's as suggested near the start.

I am sure someone could tidy it up a lot as I obviously nicked the ant from a previous logo And seeing them 'animated' into different stances would be nice!




Then I was thinking the ant could become the mascot & logo.... this is quick and dirty and I reckon someone could create a happier looking ant

The 8 in the middle create's an infinant loop joining the two circles together (development and community perhaps?) and means infinity in math corners.

great designs, I have a couple of  comments on two, though

As I initially said yesterday the Hand design looks a lot like a Kokopelli (google it)

The design that looks like an X with a head in the top center position, no matter what angle you see it from, it looks exactly like the logo of Cingular ( a cellphone provider in USA)
It even has the orange color going on.

Thanks! Basically, I've created the logo bearing in mind that it's got to unique & flexible,  scalable in any sizes, colors, effects and possible to be fit in any merchandises, decals, promotion materials etc. (I hope ... )

Although you're right about the similarities, I also see quite distinct differences between the others and peek's proposed hand.
From another perspective: It does make a good logo, otherwise Google, Microsoft and MSNBC wouldn't have such logo's either... and they undoubtedly payed top bucks for having them created..
If the hand would resemble another logo, I'd say it resembles Google's Desktop logo more than any of the others shown here..
I like the hand; I'm trying to thing of something else, but the hand keeps coming back to me...

Created with the Gimp using a font called Foo and the background color from the joomla.org site as font color. The Os are pronouncing the first syllable of the new name
