Here is one I have been working on since I saw the new site. Love the color scheme so wanted to stick with the same look. The first one shows the logo by itself. The second shows my guides to show that everything is very specifically placed for a reason (and that I'm anal about good design structure  ). The upside down "j" in the orb represents the "!" and the "oo" in the type represents community/infinity.

All you need is Joomla

A simple but fun sounding name. So a simple and fun color and shapes, with a little international flavor. This is rough; I'd clean up the world icon lines, etc. But you get the idea.

I would go for a double "J" forming an "O" something like:



"J" and "O" as the first letters of "Joomla"
But it also looks as "O" and "S" as "Open Source"  ...

I like DeGrey's logo.  If it's okay to build upon an idea, here's my reinterpretation of it.
