Charity Registration forms

Post by kili » Sat Jun 03, 2006 3:04 pm

Hi Guys I would appreciate your advice.. Every year I support two charities in organising what’s know as the Great North Coast Charity Challenge and the
South Coast Charity Challenge to raise funds .These have been quite successful in raising an average of £30,000 at each event for the respective charities.

However organising such events can be very time consuming so I’m looking for ways to reduce this onerous task by getting as many people to register online as possible.
I have a need for a form where walkers can signup entering the following details:
Name
Address
Mobile and home phone numbers,
Email address
Have an automatic walk ID number assigned (Just a number 1. 2 . 3 etc
Pay there £10 entry fee (Link to Paypal account)
Tick a box indicating if they want a T Shirt
(We give out T Shirts to walkers with the charity name on but we state that if they don’t have request a  T Shirt there £10 swells the fund for the charity)
Receive on submition of the form details in PDF or text format of the walk and there auto generated walk ID number to their email address.
Copy of above to site admin or designated email address and the whole stored in a database for retrieval.
Export to csv

I realise the chances of my finding such a component are slim but does anyone have any idea on where I might find something like this . There are an awful lot of charities out there and such a component would be very well received I’m sure I just wish I new how to create such a beast.

All suggestions welcome.

Cheers Kili

Have you looked at AKReservations?  There are a few "Event" registration tools and perhaps they can be customized to meet your needs.  http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... /cat_id,0/

You could also find a non-Joomla script and simply include it into your site.  Please don't ask me for any suggestions off of the top of my head.    You can use a component named "com_include" to include external PHP scripts into your site - a great solution if a native Joomla is not available.

just me,
tcp

Thanks TCP .I've had a look at some of those and there all quite good but I suppose what I really need is a download of enough brain cells to write this stuff myself lol..

Thanks for taking the time to advise

You may also want to look at the features of CiviCRM.  This application offers a lot of features.

We can do ALL of the above within CiviContribute, except: (in the standard configuraton WITHOUT any changes to the code)

Receive on submition of the form details in PDF (a text email is sent) and the auto generated walk ID (this might be possible) number to their email address. You could customize the receipt text and add walk instructions there.

Let us know if you need more information etc. CiviCRM is a fairly heavy component (it does a lot!!), so installation is a bit tricky/cumbersome. You also need a fair amount of memory and CPU speed

Our primary avenues of support is the mailing list, details at:

http://www.openngo.org/mailinglists.html

and the joomla forum:

Sorry for the delay in replying but I did not recevie notification of an update. I did look at civic but as you say it's pretty complex. Maybe I'll take another look and see if I can get to grips with it.

MAny Thanks Kili

Hi Kili,

I recently built a conference registration component for use by professional societies which could be tweaked to meet your needs. I can provide you with login credentials to try a demo version if you wish. Essentially it collects whatever details are required and then displays a 'shopping cart' style summary. Further products could be added at thats stage, e.g. the T-shirt at whatever cost you choose (e.g. £0 to £?). The user can then pay online. Currently this is via authorize.net but this could be changed - however are you aware that there are UK charity payment gateways around? I think they charge lower rates than 'normal' gateways so it might be worth looking into.

Let me know - cheers, Ian

Do you have any details of those UK charity gateways?

These are the ones I am aware of that give discounts on their normal rates to charities:

  • http://www.secpay.com/seccard.html offer charity rates on request

These ones have charity-specific business units to them
  • RSC (http://www.retail-services.co.uk/index.htm) run the charity payment terminal (CPT) which is pretty wellknown and heavily used though I don't know who their charges stack up off the top of my head;
  • http://www.securegiving.co.uk/index.html;

There are plenty of others listed here: http://www.oscar.org.uk/supporter/finan ... giving.htm

Hope that helps get you started.
