Andrew-
It is impossible for me to imagine what you have been through since you got involved with Mambo years ago. I know from speaking with you on a number of occasions that your involvement has taken a toll on you, your family and your business endeavers. I hope that this change will allow you to return to terra firma and what is most important for us earthlings: happiness.

Your contributions to and stewardship of this project through its many trials and tribulations are the reason that we are here today. Your management skills are obviously worth mentioning. I believe without your vision and ability to communicate that vision to the various teams we would never have gotten this far.

There has never been a valid reason to question your intentions or personal motivations because you always go out of your way to discuss the developments of the project in a transparent manner. You are an excellent listener, giving everyone equal opportunity to discuss the project and I have never known you to be judgemental as a result. I have always appreciated your honest, concise and occasionally humorous posts about the project and I believe that they have contributed to its success.

The new management of the project has a very tough road ahead indeed and should continue to seek your advice and guidance. This is a good time and place to make notes on the keys of your successful management philosophy that the incoming team should use EVERYTIME they make a decision:
  • temperament - it is critical that all decisions be made, discussed and delivered with clear, fair and unbiased communication
  • team mindset - not small "factions" of people with personal interests, opinions and interpersonal differences
  • understanding - it takes a lot of time to fully understand what the needs of users, developers and administrators are. It takes even more time to formulate these needs into a vision. Finally, it will take most of your time to communicate that vision effectively into a roadmap and development!

Andrew, words are not enough to express to you how much I have appreciated you as the Master Chief of this project. I am imagining a nice sunset sitting on the front porch watching the project you almost killed yourself building solving problems for people the world over. Cheers to you.  8)
