JCE web site blocking IPs?

Post by rsd » Thu Jul 20, 2006 4:58 am

Hi,

I have been trying to access the JCE extention website and I am being blocked.
I have tried from different ISPs/backbones and I always get timeout.

I am trying from Brazil, so maybe brazilian IPs are being blocked (200.xxx, 201.xxx range).
I have asked for other people (from other countries) to try and the CAN access the site.

BTW, the web site is http://www.cellardoor.za.net .

The people that entered the site, said that their is no email contact.
So, if possible, I would like to ask that anyone that can reach Ryan Demmer, to ask him about the problem.
He might no even be aware of it.

In the mean while, if anyone can point me to another way to download the plugins I would be greatfull.

thx

RoboRutt

Hi there rsd,

I will email to Ryan for you and direct him to this thread.  In the meantime, shoot me an email and I will email you back a zip file with the components/ bots etc...

Its a great extention for Joomla, I don't think the JCE team will mind ;)  (I hope!)

Cheers,
Rob.

what is joomla.org's polıcy for  komponents that lısted ın extensıons websıte that blockıng IPs.
facile forms ıs lısted ın extensions websıte and he is blocking all the Turkısh IP's.
http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... Itemid,35/

companıes that blockıng any countrıes IP, SHOULD NOT BE LISTED IN EXTENSİONS WEBSITE
He is not offering his product to all the joomla users.

please take facıle forms off the extensions websıte as soon as possible..
otherwıse I wıll pursue this matter to fullest extend.

he mıght ban IPs for hıs web sıte. that's his choise.
but he can not advertıse his product ın extensions websıte and BAN IPs ın the same tıme

please do not offer me facileforms zıpped file
issue is not the file but principals

We do not have a policy of removing websites from the extensions directory if they are blocking IP's.

otherwıse I wıll pursue this matter to fullest extend.

Please explain that to me.... I hope it is not a threat to Joomla! ? You are welcome to contact FacileForm about this issue though. This is their business not ours.

Just to add, I am sure that these are not the only people that block IP's at the server level. We even do it here on this server for certain reasons at times.

Brad, ın my post I'd asked,

what is joomla.org's policy for  komponents that lısted ın extensions websıte that blockıng IPs.

I want an answer to my question fırst.

I am not talking about server protection.

I am talking about products that listed ın extension website that blocking IPs.
you can not list products in extension website that I can not download.
You can not discrimınate against any race, nation and religion.
otherwise joomla wıll be a racist CMS

Joomla is not discriminating... please see my post above:
We do not have a policy of removing websites from the extensions directory if they are blocking IP's.

I will be closing this thread, if you continue to want to argue with us. Please take your dispute with Facileforms off-forum and in private. We are not the cause and neither are we going to continue hosting this argument.

open source matters.
facile forms is not an open source.
ıf I can't download it, how can it be an open source.??

ıf you do not have a policy of removing websites from the extensions directory if they are blocking IP's.
you better come up wıth a policy and tell me yes or no.
saying, we do not have a policy ıs not a choice

I need to know if you still advertise facile forms ın extensıon websıte even they block IPs

please just answer my question. You need to let me know joomla.org's decision. not your personal opinion..

AND TRY TO SEE MY POİNT....

We CAN, but we DON'T.

Closing now off-topic thread. If anyone has a problem with a community member blocking an IP, please contact the developer concerned. Joomla! is not here to police or enforce any policy on this subject.

^ Joomla.org's decision is listed above. We do NOT remove websites from the extensions site for this reason.

There are plenty of non-open source products on extensions site, paid, commercial etc etc FYI.

Please do not bring this Facileforms issue up again on the forums. It is between you and them, not us.
