We are a non-profit that serves adults with disabilities in a setting that provides for learning arts and life skills. (read our mission statement and more about us on the site!)
I finally got the preliminary site up.... It took a long time to get internet access approved here, and now it's finally here.
There's still much to do, but I'm pretty happy so far.
Let me know what you think!
peace,
tj

TJ,
All I can say is WOW! You taking the time was sure worth it. Great Job on the grpahics and layout. Not too much and not too little
I like the way you split up the menus.
Did you do the graphics your self? What tools did you use for them?
Where did you get Ext2 Calendar?
I noticed you are using Dreamhost. A friend also recommended them. She is Professional Web Developer who Manitains 16 Coporate website and many other. She said they were the best by far. How has your experience been?
Also what type Web development background do you have?
I have very little. i.e fool around with Front page
Any tips you can hand out? I am devloping a website for Swim club currently.
Thanks

Re: The Creative Center-Visalia
Hello akaflipper,
Thanks for the compliments!
--As for the graphics, if you are referring to the template and what not, I am using a heavily modified version of the Simplicity template from JoomlaShack, a great resource for fantastic templates. They are here: http://www.joomlashack.com/ They have free and commercial templates. Their commercial templates are very reasonably priced, and they have great tech support! I've got my eye on their "Voodoo" template for another site I am working on.
I used Fireworks to modify the source images that came with the template.
--For the extCalendar, I've noticed that it no longer is listed in the Extensions section here, so I'm not sure where you can get it. I guess they removed the component because the support/development has all but ceased. You may want to look at another calendar component, as this one may not be compatable with future releases of Joomla! Unless of course, someone picks it back up, as I am hoping will happen so I don't have to change calendars, and I really like the look of this one! GigCalendar is excellent, but you will have to do some changing in the code for references to "bands" and such if you are not using it soley for band gigs.
--I like Dreamhost, I've not had any problems with any of the sites I have hosted with them.
--Everything I've learned (which is still very little really!) about web development has come from reading books and asking questions in forums. I've still got an enormous lack of knowledge when it comes to PHP, XHTML, CMS, Java, etc. I'm just learning as I go, and having a blast doing it!
I don't really feel qualified to give advice, but I will say, have fun learning! This forum is a fantastic resource for information, and there are plenty of other forums where you can ask questions and recieve help. Hang in there, and if it stops being fun, consider doing something else for a while!
peace,
tj
