Would you be so kind to add a FORUM for creative people to share ideas and insights?
- Graphic Designers
- Writers & Authors
- Photographers
- Videographers
- Flash Designers
- Illustrators
- Animators
I think there are lots of people on here who'd love to talk shop with other ppl like me in the creative world, and from what I can see, right now, they really don't have a place on the forum.
I'm sure it wasn't intentional to count them out. It's easy to get hyper-focused when you're all so damn busy just trying to keep up with what you've got going now (how DO you make money, by the way if this is all OS??? I'd love to interview y'all for my magazine!)
Thanks so much. Joomla rocks, but my advice (and request) would be to make this home a bit more comfy for people who spend their days working on a Mac--we're pretty whacked-out too, just like codemonkeys, and need a spot on J! to shoot the shit.
Their many strengths could add a lot of punch to this awesome project. Don't count designers out - SOMEONE has to create your templates, after all!
Thanks.

Welcome to Joomla BTW
I think for now, these topics would be suited for The Lounge
We're not intentionally trying to count anyone out, however if we notice a growing need (ie an abundance of posts on a certain subject in the lounge) we will work to fill the need.
PS I use Mac as well, exclusively.

Glad to hear you use a Mac too (I don't anymore, but lots do). Hope the comment's not why you're relegating creatives to the lounge. Try it for a month, see what happens--if it's not used, then send us to the corner.

Re: PLEASE Put up a FORUM for Creative People?
If you want to discuss the creation of Joomla templates, we already have a forum for that...
If you can try to explain what you feel we need this new forum for, and how it relates to Joomla that might help me to understand what exactly you are after...

Re: PLEASE Put up a FORUM for Creative People?
Thanks for the note back. The purpose is NOT to promote peoples' business - you've got a place already for that. It's a section for people to discuss the elements of good design and creativity. Constructive critique of design, writing, photography, animation, etc. I think what may be missing in the joomla environment is NOT creativity, you've got that here, but people from the creative professions. People who are designers, writers and photographers at non-profit organizations, ad agencies, design firms, etc.
While anyone could start their own Joomla!Creative blog, you've already got the audience here, why send them off to another site. Judging from your response, I see that it would likely be slow on the ramp-up as it is, as you've probably not received such a request before.
That's too bad, but think about it?

I call that place http://www.sitepoint.com - their forum is likely the best place in the world to discuss those topics. You could probably guess my username over there.DesignGuy wrote:Thanks for the note back. The purpose is NOT to promote peoples' business - you've got a place already for that. But you are right. I would like to see a focus on joomla styling .. I think after 1.5 comes out, there will be a newly infused joomla styling revolution that gets fired up ( cause its just more fun to markup on a proper dom based page : )
