Non Profit Org Training Conference???
Should we plan a non-profit organization training conference to help non-profit organizations with Joomla! and to promote Joomla! to interested non-profits?
I personally think that this would be useful for many non-profit organizations. It would train them up and it would promot Joomla! to organizations looking to create or rennovate their website.

Re: Non Profit Org Training Conference???
Excellent idea, many NGOs I work with would benefit from moving to Joomla. But I take this opportunity to say that Joomla's lack of inbuilt support of DC meta data is one of the main issues that prevents NGOs in the communities I am inivolved with adopting Joomla.
I've seen discussions where the usefullness of DC is questionned, but in Europe certainly I'm convinced that DC support is perceived as important.

No one thought of an OS conferencing software? Hmmmm....No wonder why the posts stopped. All the developers scurried back to create the next great component! Voila! It's WebexOS! I believe there's a 30 day free trial for WebEx, www.webex.com.
I've got a big conference hall in Chicago, whenever you want to come out here!
Keep me informed - love to help with whatever (and learn!). -JC

Re: Non Profit Org Training Conference???
well right now we have compass thats willing to do the training
what we need to decide is when and where we'll host it or use a web conferencing software (http://www.webex.com/) like DesignGuy suggested

Re: Non Profit Org Training Conference???
Hello !
(Please excuse my elementary English)
I am a Tunisian student and president/founder of an association witch has as goal to provide the use of FREE software and concepts in the student/associative community in Tunisia.
The University of Tunis and the ESSEC Business School, invite me to do a little conference about “The Use of free (GNU/GPL) CMS in dynamic web sites building” and I accept to do this conference and to take Joomla! as the principal subject of this conference.
I am not a Joomla! professional but I made some web sites with this CMS and personally I LOVE IT!
So, what I am asking for is: there is someone who can help me with this presentation? And what the Joomla! Community wants to speak about in the presentation?
This conference will be an introduction to Joomla! and will attract some Tunisian graduate student to Joomla! and the GNU/GPL licensed software.
I want also to create a Joomla! community in Tunisia and this conference will be the beginning.
Thank you for your help
Asmoday

What about getting together in-person?
Are there any regional user-group-esque meetings on Joomla?

Re: Non Profit Org Training Conference???
Can I suggest that we find out where all the master joomla folks who are willing to help ngo's first. Instead of organizing a conference in one spot we should think about organizing many regional 'hero's' to help out ngo's nearby. I shouldn't have to travel to the UK when I have someone in Los Angeles or San Francisco. I think it would be wise to establish regional user groups first. Wait, am I being to rational here?

Wow, didn't take them long to take that domain name... too bad it will be held forever for no apparent reason other than to hold it.
Oh well...

Re: Non Profit Org Training Conference???
Hi Everyone,
I too am for the training conference... however, I feel that most non-profits do not have the resources to attend a conference, so by making it available through a website www.joomlatraining.org using common components to make it easy for all formats to be compatible.
Whomever is going to make it so, needs to keep us informed as to the progress.
