This wasn't my first choice. It is however a nice logo and a well deserved round of applause goes to the artist. Congrats.

I like it (of course I voted for it). Congratulations, I think it really suits the community metaphor well. Concern over the fact that the colours are similar to those of Windows is just goofy.

Looks a lot better than another CMS logo, which always reminded me of those flower traction things people put on their bathtubs, or on Volkswagen Beetles. Guess that dates me...

Again, congrats, terrific and professional looking design (as were all the finalists.)

I voted for this logo without seeing this. However.............Do we want THIS????

I love the 4 J's but cant we do something on the colors please??

I haven't read this entire thread (sorry), but did anyone notice that the picture here turns the MS Office logo by 180 degrees to make it match the Joomla! logo... so it's really not that similar  :)

Very Happy... Congrats... :D

Though I just noticed the the menu on the Joomla admin page is horizontal with vertical drop downs and pop out menus like Microsoft Office has.  SO I am hoping we can vote about that soon.  Maybe we can have the menu do diagonal and not use text but just icons (we can vote on these too )  So we don't look like any Microsoft stuff at all. :'(

Sigh.. 8)

Run away or follow.. if you changed direction because of someone else, you gave up some of your power.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the adjustments asked for were add 2 more "Js" tilt it and color it orange?  :P

I voted JBird because it needed no explanation and reminded me of no other software.  :-[
But now that Jommla 01 has been choosen... let's forget about our preferences and go back to serious work: core, addons and templates.  ;)

BTW congratulations, Alan.  :)

Nope it really doesn't bother me... maybe the bold in my previous post sent the wrong message  :-[.

I had previously looked at the MS Office logo and noted the similarities, but also noted that the colors were not in the same order.  I figured that I would point out the fact that the logo had been turned by 180 degrees since so many people mentioned that they were not familiar with the MS Office logo.  :)

First of al i would like to thank everybody for helping get this beautiful community a new logo. A lot of great suggestions where made and drawn by a lot of people. Jlogo and Joomla 01 where the two big favourites and the best one won. That’s not my opinion but with more than 30% of the votes the opinion of a community.

There are a lot of logo's like the MS one, so I’m not to bothered. I love the use of primary colours to give the logo a wide spectrum. I'm excited about the eventual outcome of the logo finalisation.

Congratulations Alan!  Well done and I look forward to seeing the finished product.

I think that any of the top 5 would have been fun and worked well for Joomla, and so I am not lamenting that my vote came in 2nd place. (well, not anymore...;))  Sorry santapec... I am happy to see you are handling defeat gracefully though, and was very sad to see the JBird's tailfeathers exiting your avatar...  clever!

Congrats again to all of the top 5 finalists, and once more to Alan... well done.

Alan, congrat's !!! ..... some fierce competition and you came out on top.

To the knockers ... grow up, so your vote didn't win, but there's obviously a majority that preferred Alan's, it seems that simple arithmetic is hard to accept some times.

Funnily enough, I saw Alan's logo as 4 people contributing together, when people started mentioning 4 J's in this thread I went back to check and went ... WOW, the people are a J shape as well  :P so it all depends on interpretation.

Alan your logo looks fine as is. Not meant as a criticism but I could probably find numerous logos that have rainbow-coloured items some people would inevitably describe as being "similar." Don't change the colours if it takes away from your design.

And since you work on a Mac, have you seen Quark's new logo? Apparently the Scottish Arts Council are a bit upset :)

I just signed into my PayPal account and saw an advertisement there and thought... oh crap!

Here's why:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and I hope it's NOT bad news but I suspect there might be a trademark infringement issue.  Somebody please, please tell me that there's not a problem.

I'm sure that the similarity in design was just cooincidental.

Oh man... I'm gonna go have a stiff drink.  :(

Arg, they're non-profit too huh? Doesn't that make trademark impossible (at least in the states?) Plus by linking to the site's the webmaster at least will find his way back here. I'm not saying anything was intentional stuff like this happens all the time, it might not even be anything to worry about.

Well, maybe the confusing "J" Microsoft looking logo can be part of the "Joomla Logo" and Jbird can be the "Joomla Mascot"???? We've gotta get Jbird in the mix somewhere, especially given the close vote.

I think we should do another vote... Jbird verse the winner... My prediction is that the 14% who voted for the fish will vote for Jbird, making Jbird the clear winner... What do you all think? I think the winning logo should receive a majority of the votes... as it stands, only 1 in 3 Joomla members want the chosen logo...

i thought all 5 logos were great.  I'm disappointed that my favorite (the jBird) did not win, but that's ok because the 01 logo was my 2nd favorite.  Either way, we need to just stop complaining and trying to get a 2nd vote to get our "favorites" to win.  We can rig up the voting in several different ways to get whatever logo to win.  The fact is, we all voted and the one more people liked won.

To be honest, from the very first time I saw the logo I felt it was a copy-cat from the Ubuntu logo. And look what I found...

Strikingly similar. Not to be mean, but I don't think this logo should of been selected as winner.

Edit: No the attached image is not an old variation of Ubuntu logo; I was just commenting that it was strikingly similar. The attached image however is of the Global Giving logo as abovementioned in comparison to the winning logo. Sorry for not making this clear.

The Ubuntu logo is conceptually similar (linked arms), but still quite different to both of the above logos.  Have you pasted an older variation of the Ubuntu logo, perhaps?  I don't know a lot about this distro...

I think 'Sudden Death' rounds should be reserved for arcade games, and 'Overtime' should be reserved for Sport.

;)

Majority rules in a fair vote.  Let's deal with it.
