Would like an histogram of votes

Hi,
I guess some components are more controversial than others.
Since there's only five possible value for voting (5 stars at max)
it would be great if a small histogramm was displayed when taking
a look at the details available for a components.
In this histogramm, it will be displayed the number of votes according to the number of stars.
So if for instance 10  people voted that a component is bad , against 50 ,
this information won't be lost just by averaging the votes.
Moreover it 's seems that below a threshold number of voting
the "stars" are not displayed.
The histogramm would be the occasion to see them.

However, histograms are not very practical with small data sets (so I don't get why you want a histogram when there are fewer than 5 votes).

Another approach, which is technically easier to implement, is to display the MEDIAN vote. I'm not suggesting that you present only the median; rather, I'm saying that you can show two results: Average rating and median rating.

Also, may I suggest that the JED display the actual mean value next to the stars. Something like this: X X X - - (3.15). The median value will always be an integer in this case.

There's only 5 values, so just display them all. An histogramm seems the most suitable for this.

I think you are confused because the threshold is five (votes), as is the number of ranks; but this is just a co-incidence.

to be clear,  I'm not referring to the threshold, but of the 5 stars of the rating.
Whatever is the "data set' , the histogramm will contain five bars ,  each bar referring to the number of votes per stars.
If there's no vote for a corresponding rating, there're ll just be no bar.
And if there's only two votes, consulting the histogramm would inform what are the actual values of theses votes.
Off course, if I suggest an histogramm it's not intended for "a small data set",
but what I'm saying is that kind of presentation of data might still help
when the data sets is small (because the presentation is systematic and work for all situations).
Just imagine a 100x100 pixels histogramm, it will give whatever informations people want,
and it doesn't take place. Now, there might be more interesting presentations.
