Re: OSCMS Summit in Sunnyvale, California March 22-23rd (Free to attend!)
Everyone (Chris, Hagen, RobS, Louis, Joe LeBlanc, Jason, Alex, Andy and myself) got here safely - some have more interesting stories than others about the actual trip - but, that is behind us!
At this exact moment, we are all listening to Rasmus Lerdorf, the creator of PHP. He gave a brief history of how he created PHP, is discussing performance and now talking about security. He is a laid back speaker and very interested in the success of our OSCMS projects.
The opening speaker gave special recognition to Joomla! rallying together people to attend - so that was nice!
I posted a few pictures for your viewing pleasure out on http://www.flickr.com/groups/joomla/.

Amy uploaded a new picture - very nice and I can say it fits to reality.
The first talks have been hold and Hangen did a great job to introduce to a quite big audience the Joomla! project. Not always nicely for the core team but actually this is his job.
The interesting thing is that the conference is more like a end user conference then a developer summit talking about geeky stuff. I like it quite much.

Re: OSCMS Summit in Sunnyvale, California March 22-23rd (Free to attend!)
Hi all,
a small report about the event from my side.
The event location was pretty amazing. The class rooms had been directly at the Yahoo campus and the group of people basically filled the whole area. About 250 people attending this event and other than planed much more non-developers showed up.
The presentations done by several of members of the Joomla! community and team have not been totally filled as we always kind a competed against the sessions from other CMS. However we had really good discussions and also got some interesting feedback from the people attending.
Pictures of the whole event can be found at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/joomlaoscms/
The real developer talks happened in the lobby of the training center. There we spoke to Rasmus, Dries, Boris and all the others which had been around. Several smaller topics have been discussed and some solutions have been found during the event.
For the next year I really would like to see a bit more preparation time which then also might help to get a broader variety OS CMS project to the event. In my opinion this will also help to increase the number of dev talks and may be lead to solutions we can accomplish together.
Thanks specially to Angie Byron and Boris Mann that helped us on some last minute organizational things.

Be nice. Go fix a bug before you are gone for awhile and of no value to us. (OK. I'm done.)
