Non-Profit (United Way) Golf Tournament Website

Hey all.  Newbie to Joomla here.  I've decided to try to use Joomla on our website.  We've run a golf tournament for the past 10 years to benefit the United Way and I'm attempting to get us on the web.  I'd like to be able to hold auctions throughout the year for items donated from sponsors to raise additional funds for the charity.  Is this possible in Joomla?  I would link all transactions to paypal so we don't have to worry about CC info.
