Improve title and meta?

Post by eyezberg » Fri Jun 08, 2007 8:37 pm

Code: Select all

<title>Joomla!</title> <title>Joomla! - News</title> <title>Joomla! Help Site</title>
<meta name="description" content="Joomla! - Content Management System and Web Application Framework" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Joomla, joomla, Joomla!, joomla!" />

is what is used now on the official sites here.. just one (obvious) keyword, no keywords in titles, a kinda shortish description.. why not ask one of the SEO experts around for improvement, as Joomla! sites seem to loose a bit of "steam" lately?

Been a long time since I've been doing SEO work. And when I was around meta tags did very little for ranking. Has the industry really changed that much (to go back to using those tags)?

Every little thing can count, and the title certainly does..

Although it doesn't fully explain the "steam loss", don't forget that the forge - formerly a joomla.org "property" is now JoomlaCode.org. So, add that into Alexa's reach, page views and rank ratings when trending.
