Help Wanted.

Post by fatflash » Tue Oct 04, 2005 4:22 pm

Hi folks.

Admins, if you read this, can we have a "Help Wanted" Forum, Please?
Also I would Like to Change the project name to Fakir

If not here it goes, a copy of my release news:

This is my first approach to a complete Component/Module development.
My aim is to have a component that handles FAQ's in a "proper" way, by creating a FAQ category, entering a Q&A on a form, displaying all the questions on top of a page with the answers anchored bellow.
I can do this outside a Joomla! environement and this should be a fairly simple task to achieve, but I need someone who as already successefully developed a component/module to give me a hand, even if only to answer my questions and point me in the right direction, I can do the work.
The plan is already made, I can produce charts and dev plans if it helps.

If you consider helping, register in JoomFAQ (or Fakir, if admins let me...)
Thanks.

As project admin you can change the name of your project. Click on the "Admin" button within your project, edit the name and click Save.

Are you asking for a help wanted forum within the Joomla Forums, or within developer.joomla.org?

Thanks,

Col

Well, it really doesn't matter where, as long as there is one.

Thanks,

I believe that it does matter.
Help wanted within this forum may imply help wanted to assist with the forum app.
Help wanted within developer.joomla.org imples help wanted in regards to Joomla! Forge projects.

Sorry, Col, if I wasn't clear.

My request for help is really a "Help Wanted" kinda advertisement.

It has to do with my project, thanks to your tip now named com_faquir, and it's on the jforge.

What I need is someone who knows how to make components well to help me develop mine.

Yes I have read the dev manual on the site, yes I have read other tutorials, but they fail to answer some questions about the environement that I would like answered.

I need Guidance and Tutorship more than making the thing itself.
I can make the faq engine with php/mysql, what I need is to fully understand how to integrate it with joomla, by means of a component/module.

I hope this makes it more clear.

Appreciate your help.

Alberto

Understood.

I think this request is more appropriate for the forums that deal with component/module development.
I'll move this post to a forum where I think you'll be able to get better help than in this forum.

IT sounds like you are doing what I hae already done :-)

Take a look at: http://www.joomla.org/component/option, ... Itemid,44/

That is the product I developed a long time ago called mosFAQ - It only sold a few copies and has now been replaced with mosKnowledgebase.

I would be happy to release mosFAQ as GPL after my wedding.

On a related issue, how can you change the name of the project so that its path on the forge is also changed? When I created mine, I did not understand what it meant when it asked for system name and gave a long name which got truncated. See:
http://developer.joomla.org/sf/sfmain/d ... rt_at_aljo
Now, I would like to change that if it is possible, to something like:
http://developer.joomla.org/sf/sfmain/d ... s.aljoomla
or
http://developer.joomla.org/sf/sfmain/d ... ojects.acs

Do I have to recreate the project?
