Hi all,

Looking forward to the next meeting - quite a few people have emailed saying they'll be there - Fantastic!

Just for now, I have rebuilt the joomladay.org.au site in version 1.5, to cater for the Australian Joomla user community. The user group meeting details are there and all the materials from the Sydney Joomla Day. Also I am loading up a forum, professional services directory and as many other goodies as I can without breaking it. You have asked for a skillshare/community area and it's coming right up!

Oh, and after all the trouble I am having with mailing lists, does anyone want to do a presentation on them at a future meeting? I am tearing my hair out with bugs, mis-sends, timeouts, import/export glitches and email caps.  Grrrr!

I don't have a broad experience of mailing list managers but I have always found mailman dependable. http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/

Others swear by ezmlm but it requires qmail as the SMTP server http://cr.yp.to/ezmlm.html

Thanks team, another great meeting! Watch out - the group's growing! - 10 people this time and several new faces. Thanks to everyone who came along and thanks for your collective wisdom on all things Joomla!

Big thanks to Ben for preparing such an interesting presentation on SEO. It demystified a lot for me and with the sheaf of notes he gave out, I reckon I'll remember most of it. The talk centred around options for enhancing your Google ranking with Joomla add-ons, tips and tricks, and detailed methods (beyond Joomla) for boosting ranking further. Ben might be persuaded to send you more details, if you missed his talk.

We also discussed such things as Joomla in education, hosting options, mailing lists, PHP and consulting fees, amongst other things.

We're planning some kickstart Joomla 1.5 training, initially for Joomal professionals/those with some technical knowledge. We want to know what you want out of training. Thanks Dinah and thanks Ben.  Both Ben's SEO presentation and the general chat were very informative. See you at the next meeting. The venue was a little noisy - I don't know the watering holes in the city well enough to suggest any alternatives though.
