Oh man! Why couldn't this have been in July - I'm vacationing in Vancouver (from Oklahoma!) from the 26th to August 3rd

That's a shame that you'll miss Joomla!Day here. I do recommend keeping an eye out for other events that could possibly take place at that time. We've had bug squashing, template demos and doc camps here in Vancouver so it's always possible something could happen during the time you're in town.
