I have to agree with this. What is done is done, however. Unfortunately you are always going to be faced with this issue because your web domain is joomla.org and not joomla!.org. People remember joomla.org and will resort to calling it Joomla. Can you think of many successful brand names or logos that include an exclamation mark?
My suggestion is not to sweat this point. There are lots of companies and associations that have more than one form of their name in use. So use Joomla! for whatever you want, but I would also use Joomla and have it registered as well as an official name. I think I will go and have a Coke! now. <--- sorry about that but I couldn't resist. I'm just being silly, no slam intended.
