Yes.. I'll get to installing it soon... have been kind of busy with the 1.0.4 security release among other things.

Brad?
What's the status of implementing this feature?

The status is.. I am still not convinced that is is needed.
If i enable, I have to go thru every board and choose whether it can be ignored or not. We have 224 boards here.
So.. yes it is on my to do list....

It is needed. I love the Joomla! community but have only limited time to participate and contribute to the forums. If I don't check for unread posts for a week, there are far too many for me to wade through and find the one or two that I could answer or help with. A great many of the ones I must wade through are a language I don't know or forums I have no knowledge about. So, what do I do? I don't help because it takes to long to find the messages I could handle. So, because I have no way to ignore the messages I can't help with, I end up ignoring the messages I could help with.
Multiply that effect by many users and it hurts the community.
Having said that, you and the forum maintainers also have your priorities of limited time. I understand that touching 220+ forums would take a while, aside from being tedious! Only you can determine if that effort and it's benefits are worth delay for some other task or tasks.
Whether you implement the change or not, I'll keep doing what I can when I have time to do something.

For the moment, I'm using the following solution (found by Sc00zy originally). Create a bookmark in your browser like this:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?actio ... 4,35,36,37. Exchange the numbers with the boards you want to check (the number of a board is visible in the address space of a link if you select a forum in your browser). This will effectively give you all new posts, but then only for the forums you want them.

After a chat with some of the other mods, this has now been installed.
Enjoy

This is great news... it may sound dumb... but how do I use it? Or where do I see any configuration of the new mod?

In your profile, there is a new link - ignore board preferences. You can then choose the boards you want to ignore.

Actually I looked there before I posed... but I am maybe blind... those are the links I see to the left:
(Profile Info)
Summary
Show Stats
Show Posts
(Modify Profile)
Account Related Settings
Forum Profile Information
Look and Layout Preferences
Notifications and Email
Personal Message Options
Edit Buddies
... maybe I should reregister and start as a "Newbie" again as I am feeling really dumb right now :-)
Excellent!

So this is basically an ignore forum component which ignores all users except the administrator
. Ditto for me.

It doesn't seem to work properly here. I can select everything but after 'change profile' not everything is selected anymore. From Oceania to Welsh Forums isn't not selected... Maybe there's a maximum set for ignored boards? Is there anybody who can reproduce this?

There seems to be a maximum of a 100 forums, maybe the international forums will be collapsed. Brad has to look into it when he is online again.

I also noticed it isn't available when you use another language file. I guess brad doesn't know that many languages

I noticed this too.
When you temporarily switch the language back to english, you can apply the filter. After that just switch back to dutch or whatever language you use.
ps: I'm sure you guys knew this already, I just wanted to anticipate on questions from others

mmm looks like this package is going to be a bit of a pain...
Maybe the author never envisaged a forum as big as ours?

Yes, this is reproducable. You need to turn off one tickbox to get another to work. Anyways, great work so far Brad. We all look forward to seeing you back after Christmas!

I asked the developer of the mod how to make it work for more then 100 boards and he said:

Brad, can we have an update on this if possible ?
Is there a chance we can install the mod in SMF RC3 ? ... I hope they will drop the RC soon, but it's been like that almost a year now 1.1 RCs I mean)
