I have no problem with the dancing metaphor.  I rather like Tango, though that might have to do with the fact that I've *always* enjoyed good tango music

I assume that a proper name is being considered by the Powers That Be.  I do think that going away from anything related to Mambo would be better, make a clean break in a way.

I thought that Mutiny CMS was a great idea, but in the long term, it might not really make much sense

And another quick comment, we have been quiet in order to collect our thoughts, get complete unanimity (yes, the whole organization is behind this! every single one of us!), and carefully research our options from many standpoints - legal, social etc.

This is not an easy task, but something that we all are absolutely committed to doing. I had the honor of representing Mambo at two LinuxWorld expos here in the States, and both times we won Best Open Source Solution from the LinuxWorld Product Awards.

These honors not only reinforce my dedication to the community, but also reinforce my belief that none of this would be possible without the community. To me the developers and community are the same thing - some of us write code, others use the code, and many of us do both.

We are taking extreme, precise steps to ensure that the developers and community can be one, and are well protected so we can get back to what we do best...

Why currently I think that proposal is quite rightly unlikely, pilgrim.

and I will be help to find sum support from Thai grovement for Open Source Project
from SIPA (http://www.sipa.or.th). SIPA have plan to promote MamboLaithai in Thailand.
they have open Thaiopensource.org for support open source project in thailand.
It will be easy to get sum support form SIPA  if this project have some one from thailand to join in mambo core team.

Welcome to the new forums, everybody. The dev team is exhausted but feeling great, and you can be sure from the discussion I just left on IRC that everybody is extremely pleased at the initial level of support we are seeing. We are watching. This project IS the community, more than any other single factor, and as a team we have never been more energized and more of one mind than we are today.

As has been noted elsewhere, we currently can't say more than what is in the official announcement but rest assured more details will come soon.

In the meantime, continue pointing people to opensourcematters.org. Post on your blogs, gently nudge others here from the old forums, and generally let people know that we're here.  A lot of new users on the Mambo forums will never see the announcement, so it will be up to the community to make sure people know that we're here.

I'd like to see the new project called "Freed".

Mambo was a great name meaning "conversation with the gods" and is a great form of jazz music. Freed suggests that we have spoken with the gods and are reacting on their recommendations. Additionally, Freed relates to Free Jazz, the open style of 60's in which musicians improvise independently.

Finally, Freed refers to the paradigm shift that Open Source projects like this are signaling: the end of the Internet's gatekeeper mentality. The most amazing thing about this OS project is seeing the twinkle in the eye of the website owner when they realize that they are finally receiving the keys to their entire website.

I am a mambo lover.  I barely post because I am no programmer, just a plain mambo user.  I just wanted to express my happiness and thankfullness for the path the Core Team had chosen.  Long live!

Honestly, when Rob said that "Mambo is in good hands", I thought twice for a while.  It's a good thing the Core Team broke their silence but remained solid as a Team.  Kudos!

To Masterchief, I salute you for not being swayed by PL's greediness.  May you lead the core Team and the Community longer than possible.

I was careful to be respectful, however I was aware that cross-posting is not acceptable.
I was just a few moments ago, banned.  Now I am showing up as a guest.
As there was no response to my request to remove me from the forums, I am not at all unhappy with the outcome.

Edit: All it took was six posts, but each post included a link to the announcement and this forum.
No comment on anyone's part in this and nothing either positive or negative said - just purely informational.

Hi all.

first off, I'm well-known (I hope I am) as a very active member on the danish forum at forum.mamboserver.com.  I kickstarted the danish language project back on it's feet in 2004 and was the danish forum moderator for a while.

I just want to say that from where I'm sitting there can be no doubt that what apparently has happened is the worst news for a very, very long time.

No Divorce is easy. And the time has come for miro & the GNU/GPL Mambo community to go their seperate ways. I hope I can speak for the danish community when stating that we are behind you (the core dev.) and you can count on us to participate f.ex. by maintaining a danish forum here.

Personally I'm committed to the idea about "Mambo" being community driven. So many people put so much time in this - it's simply not fair that miro should be able to ? wheel-in ? the benefits for themselves.

to sum it all up.....We are behind you 100% - We don't want a "nuke" situation = 15 million different forks. So everybody.......Get behind this new initiative !

It was a waste of time.  All six posts, plus others I had made, have all been deleted.
Responses to those posts have also gone.  Seems any thread with this url is not likely to stay over there for long.  The sad thing is, my posts directed people to the Foundation announcement and to the developers announcement, and this forum.  It passed no value-judgement whatsoever.  There are many forum users who never visit the announcements.  I really felt they needed to know about the developments, but I was not directing anyone - just left it to people to make up their own minds and check out the links if they were interested. 
This, to me, is censorship that hurts the community.  Everybody deserves to be informed.  However, they are their forums to administer however they wish.  I didn't post on them much at all over the years, but when I did I hope other community members found it helpful.  I have never had a post moderated in any forum anywhere, let alone been banned.  Warning me about cross-posting would have been fair enough, even removing those posts, IF they had said anywhere that posting this url was against the rules. 
Shame.
