Ah Andrew,

So now I know who is responsible for getting me in to Joomla! back in October(ish) of 2005.

With only a passing knowledge of how to use HTML, I decided back in August 2005, while relaxing on holiday, to learn about PHP.  The first thing I learned was that there was a lot to learn and it was going to be a long process made even longer by my lack of database knowledge and experience.  After a few months of reading up, experimenting and feeling around in the dark, I first discovered Joomla! and then discovered that I had wasted a lot of time.  Joomla! did everything I wanted and more  and that freed me up to start thinking about what I really wanted to do which is work on creating my market stall and windows to the world without paying silly money to below average ‘backenders.'

I have since spent my time more productively experimenting with what I want to achieve rather than how to achieve it.  I have downloaded some free software extensions (thank you facile forms), purchased several templates (thank you Joomlashack and soon Rocket Theme), purchased commercial software (thank you Phil Taylor), encouraged some people to start using Joomla! and discovered what I'm going to spend the next few years doing with the help of all of the above and Joomla! 1.5.

So, thank you (all) for starting the project and doing the stuff you have done and do that has so much relevance and utility to people like me.  Please don't stop. 

I have been to Queensland and can understand why you would want to spend more time away from the stress of keeping what is turning into an unstoppable juggernaut on the right road.

I'm also very thankful to everything you (all) did during the Katrina storm in helping us get back on our feet. I hope to see you guys around.

I remember that I was few years ago looking for some useful CMS, post forums and articles from whole developer team help me to choose this  program. The best community lead by right people, with masterchief as the one, ruled me to bet me on Mambo. After divorced with Miro was same team, that show me their way is the good one. Now I see be on the right card!

I have to say big thanks for your amazing work, masterchief.  I see that after that all long time you spent with developing and leading for this  community you just need a little (or longer) break, so enjoy it and don't forget one thing. You made it well done!

It seems like it was only yesterday when you announced that you (and the Core Team) are leaving Mambo for the best interest of the community.  In just a month from then on, this community started moving so rapidly that I can no longer pace myself to be able to follow.  With these fruits that we are reaping now, there's no question on your leadership abilities and your full-hearted commitments to this project.  Thanks for all the hardwork and sincerety.

You can all be quite proud of what you have accomplished in such a short time. To think that less than a year ago we were all being held hostage having built our solutions on top of something that questionably wasn't truly open source. All three of you were instrumental in helping deliver us all from that world and give us a wonderful new project built on better open source principles than the previous one.

For that I will be eternally grateful. Best wishes to you all.

Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication and organization. From Mambo to OSM and Joomla, you 3 have provided solid leadership... and not to shabby coding either =).

Just downloaded the most recent build of Joomla 1.5 Alpha: revision 4200.  4200 Commits.  Thousands of contributions.  Thousands of lines of code.  Thousands of contributors from all over the world.  Thousands of stories frought with tension and moments of triumph.  It has all been built here, and we all have you to thank for making many of our everyday tasks and aspirations into a community of developers, designers, friends and fanatics.

All I can say is thank you.  Thank all three of you for being fearless leaders.  For taking your beliefs and taking them elsewhere.  If you hadn't done that, there would not be Joomla!.

From the depths of my heart, thank you for what you have done and what you continue to do.  Mere words cannot express.

Yes, thank you guys for all the work. I hope I am reading into this that Andrew will be contributing more code now? If so, that's awesome - if not, you've already done enough to deserve a retirement.

I'd been away for a bit, dealing with some personal and professional issues (didn't leave much time for browsing, outside of 2 minutes here, two minutes there... unfortunately), and only learned now of this thread...  A shock, to say the very least  (three people I thought *wouldn't* have left the project), and I will miss these valued members of the development team.  All three have contibuted more than just time, and I'd like to personally say I appreciate everything all three of you have done...

One thing I have learned in my 4-plus years being involved with Mambo (now Joomla, as I have obviously followed those I trusted despite and throughout the drama of last year), no matter who steps down, there is a tradition that has shown that there will ALWAYS be a high-calibre person to replace the one we lost.  If I am reading this thread right, Johan has stepped up to the plate and the tradition has not died.  The core team is still focused, the project is moving on, and there is NO animosity towards anyone who has stepped down.

For this reason, and this reason only - in the face of loss and adversity - Joomla will live on and continue to be one of the strongest open-source projects going.  And it is for this reason I - and tens of thousands of Joomla followers - will continue to support the project, the dev team, and the support teams....

My deepest thanks to Andrew, Mitch, and Arno for what you have done this far - and I am confident the project has been left in very capable hands....

Don't be strangers, my friends....  As I said to Brian when he departed the team - we may have had differences, but you will always ALWAYS have my deepest respect....

I agree with you whole heartedly - everyone using Joomla has benefited by the efforts of these core members..... And anyone else involved with the program, for that matter.  It's very nice to see all the messages wishing them well - they will definitely be missed.
