My last post in this thread as it is going to be a neverending story if no-one knows where to go to:
When viewing joomla.org i saw that there is already a slogan:
"Cutting Edge Content Management"Maybe it was not suggested to be a slogan when the page was build - but it is the first that you see when viewing the page. So let us use this one as it is already well known to existing users.
Unfortunately i don't know where to find the results of the market survey made at osm.org - this could help a bit to find out on what base a slogan should be. Of course, the survey didn't cover many points but (in my opinion) only well known m4mbo-phrases (powerfull, cutting edge, simplify, ...) - but it could lead a direction.
Who is responsable for choosing the new slogan? Maybe those persons should point out what they liked so far and what is unuseable in their opinion. But we need some basic information to build up something (not everything).
At least we need to know:
- deadline?
- what should be said by the slogan?(market survey)
- which target group should be affected by the slogan?
- should the slogan have something to do with the logo?
- will there be a community-based vote/election at the end or do we make brainstorming to help some marketing-companies choosing the slogan?
There is something that makes me feel pitty: Compared to the name-finding thread there seems to be only few interest to find a slogan by the community. I'm missing many many highly respected members and their suggestions? I feel a lack of motivation. Maybe because the suggestions so far move in circles - there has to be a direction. Otherwise we'll continue moving in circles for the next 10 pages.
Well, as i said: I'm off this discussion now (for reasons i mentioned and because of personal reasons), i'll just wait and see... To those "hardcore-brainstormer": Try to find a common route! One step ahead, one step left, one step back and finaly one step right brings you to where you've been started!
My best wishes to Joomla! and those who have to decide what slogan will be used.
Regards,
tyndal

Another idea: who choose Joomla!, can choose the slogan, all right?
But do we need a slogan?

i think this has been answered somewhere in other thread.
I am not a marketing strategies person but i just incidently saw a nokia site. You know, a slogan really helps them.
NOKIA. Connecting people. < --- well said and i could related to its product.
In my humble opinion, yes... a slogan is needed for joomla and it helps the product to be popular as much as the quality and support for the product itself.

some brainstorming at night:
- make mine a joomla! (like "make mine a murphy's")
- looks like we got ourselves a joomla!
- looks like we got ourselves a cms!
- joomla! * the simple side of ... (content, web, it.)
- your content's pal
- your content's best friend
- got content?
etc...
yours,
melville and his first post

Atlas said:
Joomla!- Creating with ambition
Instead:
Joomla! - Creation with ambition, ambition to create!
There are a lot of threads in this one and I don't have the time read all 23 pages.
How about:
Just Joomla It!
I liked this second one a lot until I seen Atlas's thought.
Better yet:
Joomla - Creation with ambition to create!
Joomla! - There when you need it!
ROCK ON JOOMLA!

The best just got better!
How about a Song?
Put your right joomla in.
Take your right joomla out.
Put your right joomla in
and shake it all about.
That's what it's all about!
Man stormed that one!!!!
JOOMLA - That's what it's all about!
Tired - My brain hurts now! Keep it UP!
Ok last one
Joomla - Keep it up!
BUh Bye!

Many highly respected members you refer to are on the core-dev team or are otherwise part of the split between us and them (Miro). Most of them feel they should refrain to participate in topics like these. Mostly to avoid being accused of "pulling everything to themselves" or, put differently, "Highjacking the code and the community" or otherwise undemocratic behaviour.
There's something to be said for that. Maybe they're right and it's wisest at this time. However, don't think of it as lack of motivation..

It is obvious, logic. I agree with you, a a direct partecipation in topics like this is a bit "difficult". So I like their wise behaviour...
