SWEET!
It's like a tribute to Kenmcd.
When I first started using Joomla!, I printed Ken's list and it and Joomla! are precisely what hooked me: a solid base PLUS+++++++
I cannot tell you (core developers, ken, extension writers) how much I appreciate your work. Thanks!

I truly believe that the addition of the Developer site recently and now the Extensions site will take Joomla to new levels as far as 3PD are concerned.
While the Core Team do a fantastic job maintaining the core code a large part of what makes Joomla so great is the work put in by 3PD. These new 'micro' sites will be of tremendous help in making the various third-party components, plugins etc. available and building an even stronger community to back the project.
My congratulations to everyone involved!

AWESOME!!!! Great job done by all. Let me tell you that this a welcomed breath of fresh air. I've already found a few components that I didn't know existed. Thanks to the developers of the site for all of your hard, devoted effort!

Great work!!!!!!!!! And even Great work for
guilliam in FAQ forum
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board,49.0.html where I have always found a lot of resources... I like to remember all efforts done and this new feature is very impressive!!!! Wow, I think that $ambo is totally and definitely OUT! Viva the Open Source!
Well, I'd like to rate sundry components but I see "You need to login first before you can rate" - sorry but I cannot... any problem...

@newart
You need to register on the site first, you can't use your forum credentials (you can register with the same credentials of cource).

First off, nice work, the community really needed this.
Euhm, why was the above quote done?
And maybe the featured extension is a bit off on the frontpage. Why should their work be posted on the frontpage and not that of others. Could be explained that theirs is appreciated more, but I know that can't be the case.
Also, be on the lookout for component naming that leads to better "ranking" in the alphabetical order of the extension site, like for instance "A really good component". The A will bring the component first in row.
Personally, I don't really like the color, but hey, who's counting right ;-).
Other than this, nice job.

Working on adding more as we speak - especially since the traffic influx brought down
http://www.gigcalendar.net Needless to say, we JUST launched this extensions site are are working hard to update the info. Please bear with us as we try and focus on the directory listings
and these types of details.

How do you suggest it should work differently? We will certainly be on the lookout for this but there aren't really any good alternatives that I know of to alphabetical.

One Question. One Suggestion.
Q1. What process should be followed to submit new extensions to the list?
S1. As a recent noob...i found some extensions to be dead easy to install and configure...while others require a more advanced understanding of joomla. Future enhancement - Suggest that a 3 tier ranking system be applied (simple, intermediate, advanced) to help future noobs (and heros) in selection process.

Ok then, I'm a patient man.
How do you suggest it should work differently? We will certainly be on the lookout for this but there aren't really any good alternatives that I know of to alphabetical.
Well, the best thing would be randomization, but I agree, this also isn't optimal. Another option could be by hits or ratings. But with the hits option, it would be very difficult for new projects to get anything done. Rating could be good, as long as people rate enough.
Keep up the good work.

Luckily, the Extensions Directory already lets you list the top rated and most popular as you request! Enjoy.

I can't tell you how much fun this Extensions site is.
I was thinking -- how about adding in the Template Sites, too?
