And again, there will be a release of version 1.0.8 on Saterday 25th Feb.

You know what, it is already Sunday 26th Feb where I am, Sydney Australia

I do understand that the server is NOT in Sydney Australia.

Maybe the announcement should read Saterday 25th February 2006 11: am GMT
Otherwise, how would I know when it is available?

I am in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, and here it is 2pm Sunday 26th. Late Saturday is late Sunday here for some reason.

Somehow I'm not getting the messages even though I'm subscribed already. Didn't get messages for any of the posts in the last few months.

I am sure the reason Rey did not announce an EXACT time, is that if for whatever reason (ie he has a power outage, new important bug was found) we/he is not going to get blasted for being late with a release ;)

It's a project we devote our free time to, it's the weekend.. we are doing our best. If you want to help, please see: http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/21/53/

If I may be so humble and make a suggestion?

Why not inform us when the installation of a new version is complete and available for immediate download?
That way, there would never be a problem.
Just a thought.

By the way, I do understand "It's a project we devote our free time to, it's the weekend.. we are doing our best." and am very grateful for what you guys do and have done.
I will have a look at "If you want to help, please see: http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/21/53/" now.

We only inform user when 'new version is complete and available for immediate download' on the fourms. This is the only place people can subscibe.. the announcment on Joomla.org was just a courtesy.

And I think, that it is a real good courtesy. 8) This way I can schedule a "raw" update-plan for my sites in advance. Nevertheless, everyone should take into account, that pre-announcements are what they are, and if it comes +/-  1 day or so, that's ok.

Apologies that was my fault, it was supposed to say UTC.

All times ever listed on Joomla! PI Releases are given in terms of UTC to so people can check against this standard time.

As Brad points out, we give Pre-Release information as a courtesy to users, so they can begin planning for Upgrade process and begin backing their sites.

All users are encouraged to put together a simple Upgrade Workflow process and as soon as the adavance notice of a release is made, should start this process.
